Phil - The Farrah Fawcett Thing
Phil - I see how right you were about the farrah fawcett thing. Michael Jackson is posted all over the net and the media and I haven`t seen a darn thing about Farrah Fawcett. It`s a dadgum shame. They are more worried about a guy who at best was odd and had inappropriate boundries with children. Not to take away from his…

Computerless for awhile
Hey Semi-colons! I hope you're having a great summer (as best as can be expected wherever you are in your cancer journey). I will not have convenient access to a computer for quite some time so I won't be posting as much ( a relief to some perhaps. HA!) Just wanted to give the heads up in case anyone is wondering where I…

Interesting New York Times Article about Recovery and Psychology
Here is an interesting article about one person's experience after cancer treatment. NYTimes Although I am only the caregiver, my experience with my husband's illness has been that dealing with post-treatment recovery (even after the wonderful diagnosis of NED) is fraught with emotional traps. Hatshepsut

My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in April of 07. He has had 2 surgeries, chemo and radiation. At his 1 year check they found that the tumor was back in the colon and had many tumors in both lungs. He went through more chemo. He finished all the treatments he could take. The tumor in the colon is gone and…

Question about CEA?
This may be a silly question...when I saw my ONC this week he said my CEA level was .8 and preop it was 4.9. He said that was good, but sometimes he talks really fast and moves on to the next subject I loose track of what he said. Is .8 good? I think it is, just wanted some confirmation.

Tuesday's Update
I took Mom to the ER this morning. Her duval drain had started leaking all over her Saturday. We figured it had just found a pocket and was draining like it was supposed to, but there were holes we could see in the tubing above her skin, so it was just going everywhere instead of into the pouch. We tried covering the…

After my stage III rectal cancer diagnosis in December of 2004, and the chemo, rads, and surgery (times 2) for that, and my stage II breast cancer diagnosis in July of 2005 with the surgery (lumpectomy), chemo, and rads...my LAST rad treatment was July 3, 2006!!!! I have to follow up with labs and chest Xray in 6weeks and then see my ONC again, so it will be the waiting game again, but as far as I am concerned, NED is right next to me and will be there FOREVER! I can go back to work, SO will return soon. I am so excited, I am NED, getting…

Mayo Clinic
Has anyone had treatment at Mayo Clinic? I'm thinking of going there for a second opinion to see if something can be done about my reversal problems. Wonder what kind of tests they might want to do?

Christmas Cards!!
I know it's early, but I do make my christmas card list early, and this may take some time to get from all, so I even talked to Beth (dorookie) on the phone today about it (it was so awesome talking to her!) and we would both love it if you could PM us with your addresses, so I can send you all some Christmas cards, if you…

Talked to my doctor
Just realized I never posted the rest of the story. I saw my doctor on Wednesday, and he surprised me with one piece of news. Apparently the ER doc misspoke. When he came in and asked me if I'd ever had a lung nodule, he must have been thinking ahead and wondering about that. Because what the CT scan showed was a possible…

Jackson Memorial Tickets Available Through LOTTERY
I just read an unnerving article on CNN.com about Jackson. Apparently, you can go on-line and register for one of 17,500 tickets available for the Jackson Memorial at the Staples Center next Tuesday. How weird is that? What is this world coming to? 9 days of this stuff and there is still no plans for a burial - it's just…

Chemo's got me down today
Hi all, had round two of chemo and was feeling pretty good until the bag came off, I went to shower and felt weak, drained and sooo tired. Had to sit down and regain myself. I am personally having trouble with bowels still. I go from constipated to cramping with loose stools... is this normal for about 46 days out of…

A loaded question Julie44....Here Goes Nothing
1) PET/CT If you haven't noticed, cancer needs much higher levels of glucose than the average cell. Simply attaching a gold nanoparticle to a glucose binding agent would work. But there is a catch. You would have to monitor surrounding tissue for signs of damage. This could easily be done by inserting a small RTD into…

Results from very first cat scan...
Well we lucked out - the cancer has not spread. DH will have surgery and possibly 1 round of chemo and hopefully that will take care of it. Why might they do a round of chemo after the surgery? Can anyone give me information on recovery time and what happens after the surgery, and life style changes that may occur. DH…

Over the counter drugs
Help! Although I feel pretty good most of the time, by about 5-6 pm I get gas so bad that I am afraid to go out of the house. I eat carefully6 and not at lot, at that. I suspect I expected a bit too much from the surgery as I thought after taking out two tumors I wouldn't need immodium (spelling?) or Pepcid. Wrong, at…

Request for good vibes...
Hello everyone, I'm having another set of scans done on July 6 and would immensely appreciate any well-wishes, thoughts, prayers you can spare. I'm really tense about these as they will dictate how my treatment progresses from here on out (surgery/no surgery/clinical trial). My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone here…

Back to feeling great
The effects of the chemo have worn off over the last few days. I feel great. I've been out mowing grass and gardening. It's really hot but I've stayed well hydrated. I hate having to wear long sleeve shirts and big hats but other than that I feel great. This is truly baffling. To be as far along as I am and feel as good as…
