New to this discussion board
I am new to this discussion board. Never been part of one before, not very tech savvy. I am not a cancer patient. My mom was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer 30JUNE2009. Dr said she had 'maybe 3 months to live'. She's only 61 years young. Not acceptable to my mom who is the most optimistic person I've ever had the…

Something I thought interesting enough to pass along.....
Copied off of the web and pasted in here.................... The safety and effectiveness of ELOXATIN(oxaliplatin)plus 5-FU/LV in patients with renal impairment have not been evaluated. Since the primary route of platinum elimination is renal, this combination should be used with caution in patients with preexisting renal…

My poor tiny vaginy
Bein' frank here. Two years out from a stage III DX. All clear so far after chemo, radiation, surgery, and more chemo. Radiation destroyed my vagina! It's as rigid, narrow, and dry as a pencil. It killed my ovaries, so I'm in menopause. I'm only 41. They gave me "stints" to use with estrogen cream, but I can't get myself…

What could this be?
Hey Everyone, I am stage 4 with mets in liver, and colon resection in May. I do also have it in my stomach and lymphnodes in stomach. I was not feeling any pain in liver and stomach after surgery, but when I have Chemo it starts hurting. They can't do liver resection or anything else until it shrinks. What do you think it…

Monicaemilia is no longer in pain
I heard from her husband over the weekend that Monica lost her battle with CRC July 17th. For those of you that didn't have the priviledge to know her, she was an amazing fighter. A Canadian that followed her countries health care plans until she needed to find others. She came to the US and got support here but when she…

Hello! I'm getting conflicting info on this in regards to my mom's chemo for her Stage IV Colon cancer, so I thought I'd ask some folks with experience - did you lose your hair with FOLFOX & Avastin treatments? My mom just started today. Actually, she is just on FOLFOX this time around, but will be adding Avastin in 2…

Eating assistance
Strange title, but I don't know how else to put it. I need some advice about eating during the week of chemo. So far it seems that I am barely able to eat or drink anything the days following chemo. This week alone I've lost 4lbs and I know that's not a good thing. I do try to eat, but the problem is most things taste…

Stage 4 Colon Cancer
My father refuses to take his medications, he is not able to eat without throwing up, he has constant phlegm and he is hardly taking any liquids. I am scared. He was given a suppository for nausea so that he could keep food down, but he only takes very little food perhaps 2 mini bites of whatever we can convince him to…

I am still in shock.... a FANTASTIC shock. Onc said the 15+ nodules in my lungs have all decreased to a "VERY LITTLE" status. I mean that as far as size is concerned. I did have 2 that were a little over an inch and 1 that was almost 2". Now ALL pea sized or smaller. My liver had 4 spots. 1 of those was large and against a…

Had acupuncture on Monday & Folfiri yesterday
I'm losing it (my kids tell me that regularly!), but I don't remember if I already commented on another thread about the acupuncture I had since Monday- forgive me if I'm repeating myself! It went well and it was the first time I had acupuncture. Since I wasn't having any chemo side effects at the time, we focused on my…

*drum roll on NED*
Have to keep it up for 48 hours. My CEA was done today- he will know in 48 hours and call me. I am not worried- He said, "look, you have had a clear colonoscopy in Feb, a non-existent CEA in April, a clean as a whistle CT scan in June- if this CEA is still very low, I am not going to want to see you back for 6 months...."…

My clinical trial scrapped for now
I met with my interventional radiologist today. He wants me to wait on the clinical trial a few months. He assured me today that he could "for sure" ablate all but one of my tumors and he felt like he could get the other one but wasn't going to say until he tried. I'm being scheduled for treatment next week. he says I…
