Hemorrhoids and rash
I know it's been posted before but I can't seem to find it. Hemorrhoids and a rash! The rash is like a diaper rash and itchy. I've use hemorrhoid creams, OTC and script, vaseline, Balmex, Burt's Baby Bee diaper ointment, which kind of has a medicinal smell, not too fond of that, and Butt Paste. It's almost 4 months since…

Burning and spasm while urinating
Good morning to all survivors. Just found out I have a bladder infection. I am not sure how I got it. It might have been too much epsom salt in my sitz baths. Anyway, it would burn and spasm right towards the end of urinating. My first time to wee wee in the cup showed no infection. The second time did show up positive. I…

Hatshepsut
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your husband. He sounded like a wonderful man + the relationship between you two was very special. I was always impressed with the caring questions for his care that you raised on the forum. I have to selfishly say that I have missed your posts; they were always so…

Mom was just diagnosed with rectal cancer
New poster here and thankful to find this outlet. My 69 year old mother, my lifeline, was diagnosed with rectal cancer three days ago. Our family has been thrown for a loop. Mom, always the strong, hard-headed, stubborn woman that she is, finally submitted to the waxing and waning signs she's been experiencing for some…

Just wondering....
Two questions in one post... First...how long does it USUALLY take if you're having radiation and chemo before you "get sick"? I know everyone's going to be different but just wondering. And second if you or someone you care for has taken it...can you tell me some of your experiences with Xeloda(5FU)? and what do you think…

My husband has bone mets. He has a 7 x 12 cm mass located between his ribs & his lung. The dr is going to do radiofrequency ablation on it next week. The dr said it was very rare cancer. Has anyone else had the radiofrequency ablation and did it shrink the turmor? Thanks Jeannie

chemo-related ulcers "down below"?
I know it is relatively common to have mouth ulcers as a side-effect of chemo (ouch). Wondering if anyone has experience with ulcers in the genital area, while on chemo? (Please excuse the sensitive topic). I have a small ulcer near my vagina. My oncologist says he hasn't encountered this before. To me, it makes sense --…

New here and newly diagnosed.
Hello, my name is Deena and I am very happy I found this group. I am a cancer survivor, at least so far (newly diagnosed). We have 4 biological children, adopted one from foster care in 2008 and April of this year added two beautiful Russian girls to our family. While in Russia, I started having some blood in my stool and…

Mortality as I see it...........
******I ask myself this question this morning "Why would I want to live on this earth forever"... ****** I think I ask myself this to ready myself for the inevitable someday, in about 41 years, so I can live up to my promise made. Why should I think about mortality issues anymore now than I should have 10 years ago or 10…

Round and round we go
They did find a small mass in my frontal lobe. The onc sent me to a nerological surgeon who looked at my MRI and said it is not consistent with a metastatic legion because there is absolutely no fluid or swelling around it. That is great news except that the neuro surgeon said it does not explain any of the symptoms I am…

Ascending Colon Cancer post-op
When I had the colonoscopy in April the gastro doctor stated that he found one cancerous polyp and was not sure if he removed all of it and that I would need surgery. On June 21 I had the resectioning surgery on the ascending colon. It was determined that the gastro doctor did remove the entire cancerous polyp & according…

bone scan question
Devasted posted bad news about the bone scan. My question for the board is how do they detect bone mets. Is it only possible to detect this via a bone scan? My pet and ct's have came back clear but how do I know if its gotten to my bones?

My dad is still NED
Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I do read your posts often. My dad was first diagnosed with colon cancer almost 5 years ago. He was stage IV with 2-3 liver mets. My dad had surgery for the initial tumor in the colon and then did 6 months of chemo. After the six months of chemo, the liver mets disappeared…

Scan results
Talked to the oncologists nurse today. I have an appointment at 8:45 in the morning. All the nurse said is that the scan is suspicious and the doctor wants to talk. I'm guessing this is not a good thing since doctors do not like to give out bad news over the phone. Eric

Scan update - no results yet
I just got my MRI today and it went went better than expected as far as the procedure went . The tech was very friendly and kept me comfortable. I usually start to get panicked at some point but did not experience that this time. It was a very relaxed environment and I felt very peaceful. I was feeling more clear headed…

Does it get better?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm still new to this. Do the side effects of chemo get better with time? I've only had 2 tx, and I'm ready to throw in the towel. I hate the nausea, vomiting and hot lava that comes out of my hind end following each tx. Since I'm a stage IV, is it really worth it? Sheri

Asking for thoughts and prayers
Hi Friends, Please say a prayer or send out a good thought for our family the next two days. **** is on the box and will unhook tomorrow. I am hoping he does not break out in a rash again and that his nausea is under control. Our youngest daughter, who has autism and epilepsy, is being "cleaned out" today for an endoscopy…

erbitux side effects
I'm going to begin having erbitux next week. I'm concerned about the acne that I'm told can be quite severe. I'd like to know if anyone can recommend some treatments that might help with that. I was diagnosed in 2008 with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Since then I have had 4 surgeries and 15 months of chemo. The most recent…

Things Learned on a Toilet
This post is inspired by another post on this forum, from a person who said they did their best thinking on the toilet after colon cancer treatment/surgery. I'm curious, what have you learned, read, discovered during your bouts with MPS (Multiple Poop Syndrome)? I'll go first. I did a lot of reading in the hours spent on…

Update on cancer- good news
I saw my surgeon today after being told by gastro doc on Thursday that I have cancer again after 4 1/2 years. Surgeon said the mass was little and in a good spot for laparospy surgery. He said considering the size and the likelihood it is a stage 1 there was no need for pre-surgery chemo nor did he see any reason for post…
