I WAS SO STUPID!
Today I started my third and last Folfox before surgery. My oncologist brought up the idea that since I didn't have much side effects the first two times, let's raise the dose of Folfox a little. And now I'm sick as hell: my nose is running like crazy, my eyes burn and wet, I'm very hyper, my stomach hurts and I have that…

For Craig - Sundance - my update and experience with Irinotecan + Zaltrap
Hi Craig, I was the first one on Zaltrap in Minnesota, right after it was approved. I haven't been around CSN, but am very active everywhere else. I heard about your troubles and thought I'd pop in to share my experiences with you in case they may help. I've still not had any organ involvement, but I have been chasing…

So we got a serum cea done last Tuesday and it was 150. The doc recommend a pet scan and we shall get one asap. That being said the repeat cea test done after 48 hours shows a value of 109. I m confused by this and wanted to check for possible explanations!!

oxaliplatin desensitization
Has anybody had this done? I had a "pretty severe" allergic reaction to oxi on my 7th chemo, and removed it from the mix, so I'm on fluorouracil, leucovorin, and avastin. I had significant shrinkage of my liver metastases while on the oxi and have been basically stable since it was stopped. When we reach the point of…

THE ROLE WE PLAY.
We as patients tend to think that we are the passive sufferers of our disease and there are the nurses, the doctors, the scientists, the lab technicians who are just doing their job coming up with new treatment options, trying them out on animals and trials then on the public. We don't realize that these are not two…

Pet, CT, MRI ???
Wondering how these are typically used. If I'm remembering correctly, my husband's last pet scan was in March - before surgery and only showed the rectal tumor. Tumor was removed in April. His CEA has been good since surgery. Though it's been going up slightly, it's been under 1.0 since surgery (.5 in June, .6 in July and…

Exercise and tumors
I have mets to lungs. It seems if I exercise couple of days before bloods taken my CEA slowly rises. Is there any chance the blood pumping around the body could cause the tumors to grow? I know they say exercise is good but I don't want to be 'feeding' tumors? I just don't know whether to go for it or do little. Sorry I…

Surgery again / updated
Damn... Husband had CT on monday and on first feedback from the radiologist all looked clear... liver, lung, bones... all fine... but there was a indifferent strukture somewhere (and I cannot remember if she said omentum or peritoneum or some other stuff inside) but she said it did not look suspect so I stopped thinking…

Ketogenic Diet & Targeting Cancer's Metabolism
I know we had the sugar debate over and over, but the letter I just received re my latest blood results deserve a mention: Dear Mr. renw in theses results you see Thymidinkinase going down. This means that the cell dividing is going down. Also the LDH(LDH4+5) is going down, this means, that the damage in the mitochondrias…

Delayed
Ugh... Well I accompainied my wife to her 8th treatment for FolFox this morning. We got settled in and things weren't moving along as "normal." The doc comes in and says they are going to delay the treatment for one week. Her platelets have kind of nose dived on us. Not too terribly low that bleeding will be a problem.…

My mom was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer in May 2013, had a surgery shortly after (full resection of the colon), and started chemo. She just completed her 6th chemo session and had the first CT scan. The scan revealed a growth of about 2.5cm in her liver, exactly in the area that bordered the colon wall. I just…

Rectal cancer metastasized to lung
Had non-hodgkins lymphoma 13 years ago. Got rectal cancer in 2011. It was stage IIa. They did chemo and radiation, removed the tumor and put in an ostomy bag. Then they reversed the ostomy and did more chemo. All looked good for almost a year. CEA levels went up so the doctor did a CT scan. The scan showed nodules in both…

Radiation after resection surgery anyone?
Although there is no pathological evidence my cancer has invaded my prominent lymph nodes (needle aspiration negative, but of course that is no guarantee since it couldn't sample all the tissue), my surgeon wants to do adjuvant radiation before resection since the bowel function is poor, if radiation follows surgery. Has…
