A Speech
Well you know you have arrived at a pinnacle point when you are asked to give a speech to cancer survivors that just finished treatment and their wellness program. I finished this program myself almost a year ago and was so honored. I spoke to this group of great people last week. It was an honor. I was so glad I could…

Dear Craig,
There is no day going by that I don't think about you and I'm sure we can multiply that by a few dozen on this forum. We know you are going through tough days and that is the reason we don't want to bother you. However when you feel up to it please drop us a line, especially since by now you should have had your piece…

Neurapathy after chemo
I had my last chemo session over a month ago and the neurapathy in my hands and feet are the worst they have ever been. Is this normal? If so, how long will it last? Cynthia

Folfiri appears to be working
As some of you may remember, I started to have ascites build-up due to my peritoneal tumors. They took off 1.7L about 2 months ago and then 3L one month ago. Well, I went in yesterday after another month and there was too little fluid to try and remove. This very likely means the folfiri is controlling the peritoneal…

Stage IV NED since Sept 2011
Hi Everyone, I want to post encouragement for Stage IV patients. I had a scan yesterday and everything still looks like NED. I was diagnosed Stage IV on December 22, 2010 with a lung met (Merry Christmas). That was removed first by VATS, then 6 treatments of Folflox that was followed by 28 days chemo/radiation for the…

Do NED patients tend to leave the forum?
For those of you who have been here for a long time, I'm just wondering if people who get well tend to leave the forum? Also who would be the person who is not around anymore (either passed or got better and left), that left the greatest impression on you? Laz

From Tara Whitehill's Family
To: Tara’s Friends This is Tara’s sister, Julie. I am so sorry to tell you that Tara died yesterday, August 29. As many of you know, she walked her journey with strength, grace and humor. She spent her last days as she had hoped – peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. She asked that I let you all know and that I express…

Gift ideas for mom
My mom completed chemo/rad a few weeks ago and will be having surgery in mid to late October. I will not be able to be there for her surgery/post surgery and wanted to send her something! I was hoping that some could share what they found helpful or useful during this time. She will be in the hospital for about a week…

My Ian
My bravest strongest man Ian passed away on the 27th August to this terrible disease, he was taken from me far too young, I hometown him when I was 17 and he was 18, we met 38 years ago today. I have had the best of life with him and he loved me very very much, we had 2 lovely daughters and 3 grandchilren. I'm so so angry,…

Qwik Update
It's been crazy how this round of chemo knocked the stuffing right out of me. I knew it would be rough but had no idea I would be so incapacitated and sufferingf from so many ailments I lost count. I thought getting started after all of this time that things would be not as difficult...especially later on in the cycle.…

Test - soft tissue?
Just found this site and it looks like a great place for support, and finding out what others have been through. Here’s the thumbnail sketch of my situation. I’m a 57 year old male, and my name is Ron. May of 2010… Abdominal pain took me to the emergency room where Stage 3 colon cancer was diagnosed. During discovery a…

Bone scan tomorrow
Onc and specialist decided to do a bone scan. For the last year continuous consistent lower back pain. now, as a young athlete I contracted osteomyelitis ( infiction in the Bone marrow) it nearly cost me my life but I made it. this is many years ago , I wonder if that can cause me more difficulties now later on. Why is it…

Biopsy results
My brother had a biopsy on the liver yesterday to confirm mestastic rectal cancer. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on how long it takes to get the results? Thanks!

*sigh*
*sigh* Had our appointment with the surgeons and are not happy with the outcome... They (remark: the university of cologne!) were ill-prepared and had no idea why we were there, at first they had no records and no plan. What they told after reading up the stuff in the computer did not please us either so we will go for a…

pain in right side.
I just found out that my wife is having pain in her right side. It is simaler to the pain she had a year ago when she found out she had colon cancer that had spread to her liver. It has been going on for about a week now. It is on her right side under her ribcage. I asked her why didn't she tell me sooner, she said she…

Lung mets

Stage 3 rectal, NED now for 4 years...and Laz's question :)
hello Everyone :) I read Laz's post about whether NED people say on or leave this Board and for me, it's a little of both: I read often and post rarely. Thought I'd share some good news as well. I was dx in the spring of 2009 with Stage 3 rectal cancer and had a resection, an ilestomy put in place for a year, an…

Anyone else have trouble posting messages from an iPad?
when I try to type if I backspace the message will freeze and then I must go to preview message to get it to unlock ... Also sometimes if I backspace the font type will change to very small. Don't remember this being a problem before the site was upgraded ... Just curious. Cynthia trying to type on an iPad way too late at…

Talked with Surgeon today
Didn't like too much what he had to say, it seems I'm predisposed to the tumors in the intestine and with them only be able to go up a few inches they have no idea what else will be there. He suggested the genetic test (which my onc is already having done) and if come out genetically deposed should have all the intestines…

If all the NED's left!
I received a lots of different responses to my previous posts about NED's staying or leaving on the board. Both approaches are absolutely acceptable. Everybody has the right to leave cancer behind them. But one realization hit me this morning. What would this forum look like if all the veterans and NED's left it? This…

Gimme sleep!
My history: Stage IV in Nov of 2010. Colon resection, Liver resection.. 7 months of chemo, Oxaliplatin, Avastin and Xeloda. Seems like I've been really tired alot more than I remember, wondering if the chemo does something like long term fatigue, etc? So far the tests have come back clear, but I feel like something must be…

Questions
My brother will begin chemo soon. He has his liver biopsy on Friday. I was told he'd have chemo for 6 months and then they'd do tests to see what's next. What kind of tests do they do? CT, MRI, PET? I explained to him that I think he has to look at this like a chronic condition. he will need to get his chemo, do tests, if…

MY ULTIMATE WISH!
I want all of us stay around here long enough, so we can give newcomers a hard time, when they complain that the new revolutionary pill that cures all cancers in 24 hours, doesn't come in bubble gum flavor. This is what I want to write to one of them in 20 years: Dear Johnny, If I catch you again complaining about the…
