Nodes/BRAC1 Negative - Rads begin next week!
Great news from the sentinel node biopsy I had on 25 Nov...nodes negative! My rad onc doc suggest BRAC test as I don't have any fam history and new diagnosis of bc. It was also negative! Thought possible chemo in my future, but he assures me that the tumor was so small, oncologist will not give me chemo! I had my…

Gynecological care while taking Tamoxifen
I posted something like this a few months ago, but there are lots of new people considering taking Tamoxifen, so I thought that I'd repeat, since I feel very strongly about this topic. I would like to encourage everyone to have consistent gynecological care before, during and after taking Tamoxifen. It's important for the…

I received my beautiful ornament too. It's a one-of-a-kind crystal ball with turquoise shapes on it. I'm hoping to get my tree this weekend and give this very special ornament a very special prominent place on the tree. Thank you so much Jolene, it is perfect and will bring joy this year and many more!!!

GREAT use for Lint Roller
You know that pesky little cling-on stuble you get when you buzz your head, well I tried my Lint Roller on them and those that are loose came right out. I think I will roll my head every day until it is smooth as a babies behind. Good grief what a relief. Donna

Can't Do MammoSite After All!! ARRGHGHG!
ARRRGHGHGGH!! I'm grouchy now! The radiation oncologist just called me. The CT Scan they did yesterday shows that the balloon is VERY close to my underlying rib--too close for his or, after discussing it with him, for my comfort and future safety for doing the MammoSite radiation. So . . . no radiation treatments next…

16 Reasons Why Alcohol Should Be Served At Work...
1. It's an incentive to show up. 2. It leads to more honest communications. 3. It reduces complaints about low pay 4. Employees tell management what they think, not what they want to hear. 5. It encourages car pooling. 6. Increase job satisfaction because if you have a bad job, you don't care. 7. It eliminates vacations…

Change in breast post-lymph node dissection surgery
OK, somewhat personal question time. I had a complete lymph node dissection of the lymph nodes under my right arm on 1 September. The lymph nodes were removed due to recurrent malignant melanoma, not breast cancer, so in that respect my right breast is only incidentally involved. I just had a PET scan - the results were…

how can I tell my Mom
Every time my Mom´s treatment date approaches my Mom gets extremely anxious and irritable, anything don´t matter how small the issue is will make her worry sick. She is taking her treatment far from where I live, so my Grandma and Aunt are taking care of her and they tell me she is angry, she snaps at everybody etc... We…

How to keep track of your posts and those you respond to ...
I'm addicted to this site. You gals have given me the most comfort of all since I was diagnosed with DCIS in November. I continue to receive such great support and offered what I can to others. There are so many posts here though ... I want to read and respond to as many as I can but how do you keep track of them all?

? Thoughts on changing mastectomy date
IBC, the cancer has shrunk drastically. My surgeon said IF I want to wait until after the holidays it is acceptable. Of course, my oncologist will have the final say, and I am unsure today how he will be,(until he gets mri.) I'll have the mri Monday, then change heart meds which puts me close to Dec 22. I don't see an issue…

Masectomy
I am scheduled for an MRI tomorrow and a masectomy on 12/17. It hasn't even been a week since I learned that I have DCIS so this is all happening so fast! My DCIS is considered a level 3...I need to do more research on what this even means! I would welcome any advice on how the recovery of a masectomy will be and how long…

Hand Pain
Happy Holidays to everyone! I have a question. The other day I woke up and my left hand was hurting so badly that I was crying. It is my left breast that is my problem. My right hand hurt some too, but not like the left. I looked in one of my many books on cancer and chemo and in one of them it did mention hand pain, I was…

1st chemo knocked WBC down to 1.6
Checked in with the Doc today and I also have a case of thrush going on. But other than that I feel good. Went and got my head shaved today. Suprised that it hasn't freaked me out. I kinda of feel that it is my Red Badge of Courage and that I now belong to an elite group of women. HEAR US ROAR!!!!!

I know this is really dumb...
but, I want to apologize when I unintentionally post my post before someone who has already posted! Does that make sense? (I'm a librarian and I know, I'm way too obsessive sometimes - I just didn't want to appear rude) ...can you imagine the mess I'll make trying to figure out how to post in color with all the hearts and…

Nipples, should I or shouldn't I?
I just read a post from seof about this topic, but I think it's sort of lost in the sea of posts, so I'll ask again. I'm scheduled (on December 29th) to have my bilateral post-DIEP 'tune up' which will consist of reducing the breast on the non-radiated side to the size of the breast on the radiated side. My doctor said…

Set back today
I had sort of a set back today so I am a little down in the dumps today. I had ct scan of the chest abdomen, pelvis, bone scan and all were good, but my muga scan dropped down from 66 to mid 50s. I was originally 70 when I started all of this so my oncologist held my herceptin today and we need to check it again in 1…

Another happy ornament recipient!
Just picked up today's mail, and there was a nice package - such excitement! Thank you, thank you Marlene_K (at least I think that's who it's from; the note inside tells the sender's "real" name, and I'm guessing she is the sender). If not, please let me know and I'll do some more investigating. The ornament is a beautiful…

Reaction to taxotere/length of time

I am concerned w/my taxotere side effects. (My throat closed)I still have shortness of breath. I had cardiac catheterization Monday (ouch),but no…

how do you pick a surgeon????!!!
I am in need of feedback - I am 47 and diagnosed with Stage1 breast cancer. I will most likely need a mastectomy and live in the New London County area. Doctors have suggested other doctors, which is okay, but I would like to hear from the ladies who have been through the mastectomy/reconstructive surgery. I don't want to…

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU ARE OLD...
HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE. George Phillips , an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but…

Guess I just need to voice..........
You know God really does orchestra everything. I had been talking to my husband about getting my hair cut short. We both love long hair. Ours were the same length up to a week ago. A few days before I was going to get it cut, I had a dream that my hair looked like Julia Roberts in the movie Steal Magnolia right before she…
