New on site and questions about boosters (radiation)
I'm starting my fifth week of radiation today...almost there!! I am scheduled to have 33 treatments with the last 5 being "boosters." I guess I'm not sure what that means. Are they extra potent? Do the treatments last longer? I'm doing great so far without having any redness and hope that the boosters don't burn my skin.…

Tamoxifen, different point of view
I'm hoping more information will make me less scared. As I discussed the Tamoxifen posts with my husband, he pointed out that we're hearing mostly from women who've had problems. That's good, because I think the doctors don't give us all the details (maybe they don't KNOW all the details that we suvivors do)! But let's see…

I walked 'on deck for the cure' for all of you sisters!!!!
We are back from the cruise. It was warm and we had a great time. The port experience in Long Beach wasn't nice...but, oh well.... We went on city tours in P.V. and Mazatlan, and went whale watching in Cabo (pics to follow...they came REALLY close, and we were in this small boat, max capacity 9...lol...). The last day, as…

Sunday School Funnies...
STORY OF ELIJAH The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces, and laid it upon the altar. And then, Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and…

I thought these were funny! See if you do! Come on - I dare you!
WAYS TO ANNOY PEOPLE! lol 1. Sing the Batman theme incessantly. 2. In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sensual massage." 3. Specify that your drive-through order is "to go." 4. Learn Morse code, and have conversations with friends in public consisting entirely of "Beeeep Bip Bip Beeep Bip..." 5. If you have a…

Recovery period for double mastectomy with reconstruction
I am hoping someone can share their experience with mastectomy and reconstruction. I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction on November 11th. It's been 18 days and I'm still having problems with doing the basics: washing hair, getting dressed, walking any distance. It's difficult to empty the dishwasher, do laundry…

Hi. I am 38 years old and have just been told that I have Infiltrated Ductal Carcenoma (IDC). I will more than likely have a masectomy so I won't have to go back…

Our Pammy, aka AKiss4Me, needs our well-wishes~ I know I can count on all of us, right?!
This is a private message I received from our Pammy (aka A Kiss4me) As you will see, she gave me permission to share the latest with all of the sisters here on the board. She needs our prayers, well-wishes, and the encouragement only we can give! I was going to paraphrase and try and re-tell her medical "situation", but…

Hard time and difficult decisions
I'm having a hard time. I lost my mom last week to bc. She fought a long, hard battle. I was diagnosed with DCIS in August. And while caring for her, I've been trying to decide between radiation or go ahead and get a bi-lateral masectomy. It's an excruciating decision, and one that is even harder now that I'm dealing with…

Overwhelmed
Just had an MRI this morning and now waiting for results from that. I have DCIS (level 3),diagnosed a week ago, and have decided on a mastectomy...scheduled for 2 weeks from today. (I prefer not to gamble on a recurrance and I would prefer to avoid radiation.) It's all very overwhelming and it seems like everytime I turn…

Is There Anyone Here That is NOT Taking Hormone Therapy?
I was just wondering if some of you bc survivors have decided to not take tamoxifen or any of the other hormone therapy pills that are prescribed for our treatment, if we are ER and PR+. And, if you aren't taking it, what made you come to that decision? And, how many of you started it, and, then stopped because of side…

Is anyone taking Femara after 5 years on tamoxifen
I will complete 5 years on tamoxifen in February 2010. Next week we are meeting with my oncologist to discuss whether or not to take Femara after tamoxifen. Researching it shows lots of side effects and I'd rather not. Any advice?
