saving eggs
I have not seen anything on this site about having your eggs removed before chemo. I am in a support group and we had a young woman come and she would like to have some of her eggs removed and stored for later. Her insurance will not pay for it. She has had some luck with getting the medicines covered for the proceedure,…

Blurred vision
Has anyone experienced blurred vision when on Arimidex? I woke with this and thought it might be from dry eyes since the temperature has been extreme this week. I increased my fluid intake and therefore the frequency of restroom visits today at work. I called my Med Onc's office and spoke to the NP. I agreed to use one of…

For Meena1
I started a new thread because the other one is so long. I am so sorry for your pain and suffering and having to go through a different battle. It seems so unfair for anyone to have to go through this crap again. I hope things are going well for you. You seem very positive and thats great. Know that you are in my prayers.…

Oncoplasty & Radiation
Has anyone had reconstructive performed after lumpectomy for DCIS? Dr. is suggesting it for me; removal of implants, lift both breasts and fill lumpectomy incision with my breast tissue. Then followed by radiation. So far as I know I am Hr and Er negative. An awful lot for me to take in and am scared to death of the…

Cataracts and cancer treatment
I am interested in finding anyone who had cataracts taken care of during chemo treatment. I had cataracts before I started chemo and fear that they are getting worse, though chemo drug affects vision anyway. Eye doc doesn't want to do any kind of cataract surgery while I am taking chemo. Anybody have any helpful comments?…

Word for the day 7/8
Psalm 63....O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will…

Dry eyes & tearing - for Janice/Boppy
Janice, I was afraid you wouldn't see this in the middle of the other thread. Dry eyes can occur when the composition (oil, water, mucus) and balance of tears changes. That can be due to hormonal changes, antihistimes (like they give during chemo), antidepressants and many other reasons. From emedicine: A symptom of Dry…

So, I went topless...
The beach in Barcelona was top optional. So, I thought there couldn't be a better time to show off the 'girls', even with the scars...I must say, no one even glanced at this old lady (but, my girls were better than some...MUCH worse than others...lol!). And, yes, I DO have pics....NO, I WON'T be posting them...ROFLMAO!!!…

Test Results In
Letting everyone know that the "sleep deprived" EEG, although an ordeal, resulted in "negative for seizure activity". (I stayed awake all night by watching late night game shows, playing video games, and jogging around the den....hope nobody was watching.) Finally something positive! Also, my three month oncology…

About to take 1st shower
After post op from bilateral mastectomies my surgeon said I could take a shower when I saw him Tuesday so today is the day. When my hubby gets home from work I'll ask him to help me. Help, is bulging under arms normal?
I just took my 1st shower. My husband took the post-op bra off me and removed the bandages covering where the drains had been pulled. Everything looks ok considering I had bilateral mastectomies 11 days ago. What does concern me is the bulging at the end of each incision just above where the drains were removed. Is this…

Sentinel Node Injection- Is it painful?
Hi Everyone: I have decided to not reconstruct (see reconstruct or not post). I got a lot of great input (thank you) and have decided that I just don't want to have all the surgeries. I can always change my mind later. What I am really scared about right now is... the sentinel node dye injections. I am having a mastectomy…

Stress, Guilt, Relief
Feeling very guilty that I didn't go with my wife to chemo #2 today, but she had a friend go with her, and everything seemed to go well (no problem finding a vein today). I want to be there for all of them, but I don't have a lot of time to take off from work. I am going tomorrow for the more stressful shaving of the head…
