Help, please
Ladies - I need your advice. A woman who is on my staff (I am a director of a private preschool) has been a thorn in my side for a long time. I have been her co-worker for 15 years, but her boss for only 6. Over the years she has complained continuously about everything, she has tried to get other staff members in trouble,…

Questions about Arimidex
Yesterday my onc mentioned that he would recommend I take Arimidex following chemo. One sister took Tamoxifen and had uterine polyp but she was 49. Other sister took Arimidex as she was 52. Neither one had any problems. I'm 61 and have had 12 surgeries in the past 4 years. I have degenerative disc disease, some neuropathy,…

Hi, new here and need help!
Hi, I'm a 39 yr old mom of 3, diagnosed with stage II bc after a modified radical mastectomy on Sept 29. IDC and in Situ with 2 of 22 nodes positive one of which was outside the capsule in the perinodal fat (like I'm supposed to know what that means) I've met once with the oncologist. Not overly impressed with the chemo…

Zoladex
has anyone heard about this drug? It's supposed to be given once a month as an implant under the skin of the stomach for younger women who developed breast cancer (hormone sensitive) before menopause. A study shows that it's as effective as chemotherapy but with fewer side effects.

Joke .. of the day ... kids, go figure!
Four high school boys afflicted with spring fever skipped morning classes. After lunch they reported to the teacher that they had a flat tire. Much to their relief she smiled and said: "Well, you missed a test today so take seats apart from one another and take out a piece of paper." Still smiling, she waited for them to…

New Here ...
Hi all I am Melissa, but everyone calls me Mel. I am new here and I guess I just needed to vent to anyone who 'gets it". I am 35, I have been married for 15 years, no children. It has been 9 months now since I first found the lump in my breast, 6 months of that fighting just to get someone to look at it and not tell me I…

Ladies I had something strange today happen
I stop to do some gocery shopping. I was in the check out line waiting on the cashier. The cashier had not yet realized I was in her line. She was talking how she had a sister with liver cancer that spread and she could do nothing and was worried she would not be able to do anything. She turned around and started to cry…

Nite of Light Laughter
Hi All, I'm so excited! My wonderful husband bought VIP tickets to see Lily Tomlin tonight at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT. They have it every October featuring different comedians. It is a bc fundraiser as well. I have been a big fan for years. Anyone remember "All of Me" with Stever Martin or "Big Business" with…

How far do you drive for your treatments?
I've read quite a few posts where a long drive time to your cancer center is mentioned. I drive about 1 1/2 hrs to get to my treatments, appts, etc. (and, of course, 1 1/2 hrs. back home) - and it is totally worth it to be at the place that I am at! Plus - it's all country driving, so, actually, very relaxing (unless the…

one year later
Well next week I will be returning to work, since I had my doubts about that happening I am very excited. I will start off slowly and work up to my regular hours. It is a demanding job both physically and mentally, so time will tell. I also will get to go to parents weekend at my daughter's college. Last year I tried until…

Not sure how to define myself
Hello all. I am hoping you can help me figure out how to define myself.... In 2004 my beloved sister Beverly died from breast cancer at 46 (she had battled it for 6 years). I also have a cousin who had breast cancer at 45 (though she is doing very well). On Mother's Day I found a lump in my left breast...I was leaving the…

Working during chemo
My chemo treatments are on Tuesdays, Neulasta shots on Wednesday am, 8 rounds every 2 weeks. I went through the first round with few side effects. Although I didn't work the day of chemo I wasn't really that tired and probably could have worked. I'm a bookkeeper...a fairly sedentary work environment. I did work every day…

something good at work, for a change :)
Today---, 2 years after my bilateral mastectomy--- a co-worker broke into tears because she felt like she abandoned me in my times of need and still feels like that. She apologized and cried. Weird, the circumstances, because I was the one to give her a hug and tell her that it is okay!!! We talked a bit, and I realized…

Saw cardiologist yesterday
Many of you recall that I had a mild heart attack years after my original diagnosis. In 1987 I had Stage 3A and left mastectomy, rads, chemo and tamoxifen. I have no family hx of heart disease. I have low blood pressure (rarely over 100/60), am not overweight, etc. Literally my only risk factor was having been a survivor…

Let's start over!
Hi-I posted few things the other day and caused un-intended commotion! I had cancer 2008-surgery & radiation (daily 8 wks). I took 2 wks off post surgery & worked daily throught treatments. (last one June 28, 2008)That is the ONLY date I remember-not the start, not the call to tell me or my surgery. (which is not like me…

E and fish oil/radiaton
My brother who is a respiratory therapist says if I'm going to have radiation I should start taking vitamin E and fish oil at double the normal rate to help prevent random damage to the lungs. Has anyone ever heard anything like that? Thanks

Finished Chemo!
I had my last chemo treatment last Monday and am starting to feel human again!!! I have Meniere's Disease which is aggravated with the saline solutuion, so between dizziness and the other chemo induced joys, the first week is awful, so it hasn't really hit me until today that I am DONE!! I start 7 weeks of radiation on the…

Something good comes from every experience (even breast cancer)!
My husband and I spent a long Labor Day Weekend visiting my sister in St. Paul, MN. We have had a somewhat rocky relationship over the years--we truly love each other, but somehow know how to push each other's buttons. We had a lot of baggage from growing up (alcoholic father, passive mother) and that has not helped.…

A video message from a cancer survivor!
Hi All. My friend is a 3 time cancer survivor. We were at a friend's home the other night and she was talking about her past treatments and how she got through ALL of it. She is a very spiritual person and she credits her belief system with her being in remission. She made a short video to share with all of you. If you can…

One year out and feeling low .....
Hi everyone ~ I really could use some support and especially prayers. I hit my one year mark last week and have been really depressed lately. I expected to be "jubilent" but have (surprisingly) found myself reliving all the old feelings and especially FEARS. I really am starting to get angry at myself for these feelings.…

Any tips for lumpectomy vs. mastectomy? How about radiation?
I only have 4 more chemo tx's to go, then surgery. My surgeon says it will be my decision as to whether I want a lumpectomy or mastectomy; the survival rate is virtually the same. I say, "take whatever is necessary!" But I'm getting a little scared as it approaches. I had a terrible experience with an anesthesiologist when…

Funny .. I hope this doesn't offend anyone : LOL
Ha Ha for the day ... 10 Husbands, Still a Virgin ... A lawyer married a woman who had previously divorced ten husbands. On their wedding night, she told her new husband, "Please be gentle, I'm still a virgin." "What?" said the puzzled groom. "How can that be if you've been married ten times?" "Well, Husband #1 was a sales…

I am not sure what is going on and am beginning to suspect condition to be a side effect of Arimidex. I want knowledge. To those reading this posting who have neuropathy, how did it start? Did it start slowly? So far neurologist and spine specialist are stumped as how I should be treated. I have had a MRI of brain, MRI of…

Exchange Surgery
I was hoping to have my exchange surgery (left breast) in November. However, I am also having my ovaries removed the same time. I received a message tonight when I got home that they scheduled my surgery for Wednesday, December 8. My question, I already have tickets for a luncheon on Saturday, December 11. Do you think I…

PCP put me on Lasix
for the swelling in my feet/ankles/lower legs. They hurt so much it was hard to put on shoes or walk. I started the Lasix on Friday and took it Saturday & Sunday. I did not take it today because I have chemo #5 tomorrow and need to hydrate. All I know is that it worked and my ankles aren't swollen anymore. I can start it…
