E and fish oil/radiaton
My brother who is a respiratory therapist says if I'm going to have radiation I should start taking vitamin E and fish oil at double the normal rate to help prevent random damage to the lungs. Has anyone ever heard anything like that? Thanks

Finished Chemo!
I had my last chemo treatment last Monday and am starting to feel human again!!! I have Meniere's Disease which is aggravated with the saline solutuion, so between dizziness and the other chemo induced joys, the first week is awful, so it hasn't really hit me until today that I am DONE!! I start 7 weeks of radiation on the…

Something good comes from every experience (even breast cancer)!
My husband and I spent a long Labor Day Weekend visiting my sister in St. Paul, MN. We have had a somewhat rocky relationship over the years--we truly love each other, but somehow know how to push each other's buttons. We had a lot of baggage from growing up (alcoholic father, passive mother) and that has not helped.…

A video message from a cancer survivor!
Hi All. My friend is a 3 time cancer survivor. We were at a friend's home the other night and she was talking about her past treatments and how she got through ALL of it. She is a very spiritual person and she credits her belief system with her being in remission. She made a short video to share with all of you. If you can…

One year out and feeling low .....
Hi everyone ~ I really could use some support and especially prayers. I hit my one year mark last week and have been really depressed lately. I expected to be "jubilent" but have (surprisingly) found myself reliving all the old feelings and especially FEARS. I really am starting to get angry at myself for these feelings.…

Any tips for lumpectomy vs. mastectomy? How about radiation?
I only have 4 more chemo tx's to go, then surgery. My surgeon says it will be my decision as to whether I want a lumpectomy or mastectomy; the survival rate is virtually the same. I say, "take whatever is necessary!" But I'm getting a little scared as it approaches. I had a terrible experience with an anesthesiologist when…

Funny .. I hope this doesn't offend anyone : LOL
Ha Ha for the day ... 10 Husbands, Still a Virgin ... A lawyer married a woman who had previously divorced ten husbands. On their wedding night, she told her new husband, "Please be gentle, I'm still a virgin." "What?" said the puzzled groom. "How can that be if you've been married ten times?" "Well, Husband #1 was a sales…

I was hoping to have my exchange surgery (left breast) in November. However, I am also having my ovaries removed the same time. I received a message tonight when I got home that they scheduled my surgery for Wednesday, December 8. My question, I already have tickets for a luncheon on Saturday, December 11. Do you think I…

PCP put me on Lasix
for the swelling in my feet/ankles/lower legs. They hurt so much it was hard to put on shoes or walk. I started the Lasix on Friday and took it Saturday & Sunday. My letter to Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer, You pulled the rug from under me, but you didn't make me fall. I became proactive, got my balance, stood up straight, and along with my cancer team, declared war on you. We all fought like true warriors and I will continue to fight until you are eradicated from the face of this earth. You will never steal my…

Hurray!!!!!
Ladies, I just wanted to tell all I had to exchange surgery. I can't tell you how much better the implants feel as opposed to the expanders. The pain is minimal to say the least. Nothing like the mastocemy. I feel so much better with those darn expanders. I'm a new woman in more than one way now. LOLOL All of you still on…

Missing Lesley very much
It has been over 2 weeks and it still does not feel like my wife has died. I still feel like she is going to walk through that door and give us all a great big hug and kiss. I have been rearranging the house and getting rid of my sons broken and old toys that Lesley would never let me get rid of, because she knew every…

how many marriages fail?
I haven't been around too much lately, but I was just wondering how many marriages just don't make it past the treatment and recovery? I thought mine would be different, but we don't even speak to each other anymore. I was diagnosed in January of 09. Had a unilateral mastectomy, chemo and radiation all in that year. This…

Today, I'm just doing normal things around the house and keep telling myself that I have no more rad appointments. The last 2 weeks I started burning and my skin is red, raw, stinging, burning and peeling. The…

unable to take Tamoxifen
My Oncologist just called informing me the results from the CYP2D6 test. And I'm one the rare people who won't benefit from Tamoxifen, for my body won't metabolize the drug. We discussed two options, a drug called Toremifene or an injection of Zoladex(to put me in fast forward menopause)then followed up by taking an…

Worried about colds, flu, etc
I just went through the first of 8 rounds of chemo this week. I worked all week except the first day, Tuesday, but I didn't go out much for fear of getting sick. Of course, there was a "viral" cold going around and by Friday, despite my caution, I got it! I would like to join a support group and start going to church again…

Hair buzzed

The Gal's name is Suzzette. Thought this was a very nice thing to do and it made the experience much easier for me. Used the…

Power port problems
Hi, I'm popping in from the ovarian board, wondering if anyone can shed some light on the power port. I have had mine for 3 years and it has worked like a charm. Yesterday, however when I went for my infusion, the drip was very slow. After changing the needle a few times, what they discovered is that it is not clogged, or…

Your HA HA for today!
1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but, the reception was excellent! 2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve you, but, don't start anything". 3. A dyslexic man walked into a bra. 4. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other, "…

Update
Well, it turns out that neither of my abscesses was causing the fever. I had a UTI that was resistant to the antibiotic I was taking for the abscess. The cultures from the abscess were clear, but I had a resistant strain of ecoli in my urine. I had no idea I had any issues with my Urinary tract because I was having no…

Newbie
Hello. I am just starting my journey and needed to touch base with those you who are new and those of you who are at various stages of your journey. My diagnosis was delivered to me just a few weeks ago so I am in the preliminary stages. Talk about confused, scared, numb and a little mad. I guess this is all normal. Any…
