Our new addition - Share about your Pet (s)
Thought I would share a couple of pictures of our new addition. In keeping with our flower theme...we named her Rosie. Some of you may remember Lilli from my previous profile picture. She is 2 1/2, a little prima-donna and our second yorkie. I had another named Sassy that lived to be 12. She passed in 2008. Just prior to…

Need guidance, your expertise, and perhaps a little piece of calmness
Hello, My mom went into the dr. as she was complaining of what she thought were hemmorrhoids. On June 23rd, she was diagnosed with anal cancer. Though the word cancer scared the living life out of the family, we were a bit relieved after finding out that this rare cancer generally had a better than average outcome.…

PET results are in
Hi Everyone-- I had my PET scan yesterday, which was a follow-up to the one I had in May, which showed some activity in my upper vaginal area. Well, I got good news--yesterday's scan showed complete resolution of the activity--it's gone! I'm very relieved with this news, as the SUV in the vaginal area was over 7 in…

Round two over
I have been lurking behind the scene while I recovered from round two of chemo. I am so impressed with all the supportive activity here on the board. I am grateful for the opportunity to be in the company of such caring individuals. Round two was not quite as bad as one. Little more queasiness, little less pain, LOTS more…

Liver resection
Hi All, I had my appointment with a surgical oncologist Friday. I guess the good news is that I am definitely a candidate for surgery. He will be removing most, if not all of the left lobe. Unfortunately, he is going away on vacation for two weeks, but will schedule a date shortly after he returns. I'm very anxious to have…

Back from Houston
Well I am home from Houston. Got home yesterday about noon. Yes, we had to reschedule our return flight because our appointment ran three hours late. Poor planning on my part, I should have given that possibility consideration when I made the reservations. I have to get it off my chest that I was extremely disappointed…

Scar Tissue After Anal Chemo & Radiation?
Has anyone been told upon finding a "mass" that it might be scar tissue? We're waiting for test results, but wondered if anyone had ever been given this information by their doctor, i.e. scar tissue as opposed to tumor recurrence.....

Nausea tips
Just a quick little tip that a friend suggested for minor nausea. Ginger Chews - they are kind of like a candy. We found them at Whole Foods in the bulk food and nuts section. I also had an Rx for Compazine (prochlorperazine) for severe nausea but could only take that every 6 hours. Inbetween doses of that, I could nibble…

Flavored water
I am having a terrible time finding something I enjoy drinking these days. Now that I am doing chemo again, I know I need to work at staying hydrated. As a rule I do not like flavored water. Too artificial tasting to me. My BF Teresa suggested I try Hint flavored water. On the heals of her recommendation I read about it in…

washing hair
I got this figured out. After radiation tomorrow I will put on my bikini and have my sister wash my hair. They are taking weekly turns driving me to my appointments, bringing my groceries up, changing the litter boxes, etc. I got the first chemo pack off today and they checked my mouth. It's not thrush, but my tongue and…

Thanks for thinkin' of me
I last posted on June 30th the day of my first chemo infusion. I just reread it and laughed at my comment "hope I don't hit the wall in a couple of days...". I would say now that it was an understatement. I felt unbelieveable energetic on Thursday (day following treatment) just at suggested by the infusion nurse, due to…

Dialators
In the various postings, vaginal dialators have been mentioned by several different women. Here is my really stupid question: How did you know whether you needed a dialator? Did you set up an appointment with a gynecologist to check for tissue damage? I think someone may have mentioned painful intercourse, but I am not…

Stamina following treatment
I'm finding the lack of stamina following treatment a bit discouraging, and am wondering if others have run into the same situation. I've always run at warp speed and am now finding that even a short walk, or brief period of watering my garden leaves me winded and tired. My treatment was completed roughly two weeks ago.…
