Been gone for a while; just checking in.
Hello all. I haven't been on here for 18+ months or so, and I actually don't know what I did to my phone to bring up the site, but I figure things happen for a reason so I re-registered as there was no way I remembered my password. LOL! First off for the newbies, I am almost a six year survivor. I started tx 4/13/09; two…

Stupid Question
Has anyone heard of anal cancer metastasizing to the muscles? I have stage iv with mets to liver and I now have an egg sized lump at the back of my calf, right on the muscle. I'm going for an ultrasound tomorrow and my onc says he doesn't think its cancer, but then I've heard that one before...

UCSF 2nd Opinion
I went for a 2nd opinion yesterday to the GI Oncology Dept - not the Anal Cancer Clinic, I'm not sure why, except that the Anal clinic has a 4 month wait for a new consult. The doctor I saw told me pretty much what my own oncologist has told me and, very disappointingly, only pointed to the standard treatment for…

I've posted here before about the removal of a perianal squamous cell carcinoma in situ which I had done last August. It was between 1 and 2 cm in size. That's over with and went well thank goodness. My doctor- a colorectal surgeon- wanted to do a procedure called 'anal mapping' which meant taking 20 or so random biopsies…

Cancer newbie--stage IIIA/B
Hey everyone, I've been reading some of your posts for a couple weeks now and had gleaned quite a bit of hope until just recently when my PET scan showed that I have a positive lymph node in my pelvis. Up until that time, I was actually looking forward to getting through the chemo/radiation treatments and getting on with…

Diarreah....
I have had diarreah, mucus discharge, bleeding and surprises that soiled my pants. NOTHING seemed to help. My cousin suggested (strongly) that I try a low carb diet. Almost Atkins. I rolled my eyes, then decided to give it a try! It works!!! (At least for me). I was worried about constipation and I haven't had any problems…

3 days on 3 days off - can't think of a better title!
Hi all, Just a couple of questions. My mum is 4 months, well just over, post treatment. She said to me she has like 3 days (for example) of pain-free BMs and then another 3 days of slightly or sometimes, not slightly, painful BMs. So basically, she's without pain some days and with pain the other days and this alternates…

Loose ends being tied.
Today is my 1 year diagnosis day, though I was ill for months before while brushing it off. What a roller coaster day that was. MEDIPORT - Gone! I insisted that I have an anesthesiologist for the removal and what a huge difference! No pain, diaphoresis, or vaso-vagal effects at all. I still have steri-strips on and the…

Is there a cure for HPV?
Just wondering. Sure would like to get rid of it. I had no idea I had HPV until the cancer showed up. I am aware that HPV can cause other cancers other than anal or rectal cancers. If there isn't a cure, then I need to find a way to so what I can to avoid anymore. I heard that a vegetarin diet is one of the best ways to…

The doctor wants to see the CT scan results before…
