Need encouragement and positive energy- numbers trending upward
Hi Ladies, Saw gyn-onc doc today. My Ca125 is up again - now 69 from 40 6 weeks ago. HE4 now 89 from 69. The plan is to redo blood work and get another PET/CT in 6 weeks. I felt "entitled" to better news as a reward for all the work on diet and exercise and thought briefly about tossing that plan out the window. But now, I…

2nd round of chemo
I am starting my second round of Taxol/Carboplatin tomorrow morning. I was very calm and unworried for my first three treatments, but am very nervous this go-around. My last chemo made me really depressed and I pretty much cried for two days, which is very unusual for me. Could use some words of encouragement.

Strontium citrate & Osteoporosis
As a follow-up to this previous thread Fosomax or other Meds / Osteoporosis, I’ve been researching alternatives to treating osteoporosis and came across strontium citrate, a natural substance (non-pharma, inexpensive). Are any of you taking it? UC Davis apparently is doing a study on it and is supposed to have results by…

Hello Ladies :) I am looking for some information maybe some of you can assist with. CA 125 FINALLY stabilizing
Had my CAT scan and lab done yesterday. Got WONDERFUL news. The CAT scan was normal and the CA 125 dropped from 261 to 222. I am estastic over the news. Don't know if it is all the green tea, healthy eating, meditation or prayers. But I will continue to do what I am doing. I have not been exercising, as I hurt my back…

Bleed post hysterectomy

However, in the past week or so, I have noticed that I a a bleeding a bit more- nothing a couple of pantiliners a day can't handle, but am wondering if I should call the doctor or…

Question about distant mets
How are they found? I've read that the majority of recurrences of uterine cancer are in the pelvic/vaginal area, but what about recurrences in other places? My regular gyn/onc checkups consist of pelvic exams (no blood work)and questions about bleeding, discharge & bowel function and the CT scans only show as far up as the…

DIANE: new article on peritoneal recurrence & primary peritoneal cancer imaging
I copied the whole LONG article (37 pages) for you and for the Teal Warriors with Primary Peritoneal Cancer because I thought it made such a good argument for PET/CT scanning for this subset and because it explained so completely what this recurrence site is. Email me if you want the whole article. Here's the synopsis:…

Question About Bioidentical Hormones
Well, my hysterectomy is scheduled for August 20(I have Stage 1 uterine cancer with grade 2 cells) and I must say that I still feel ambivalence, fear, and a bit blue. It's all been so overwhelming, especially my five hour appointment at the hospital on Monday! I must say that I was happy that all my labs and tests came out…

Post surgery questions
It will be two weeks tomorrow since my surgery and I had a couple of questions that I know only you all can help with. 1. Are you on hormone replacement therapy? My doctor said that cancers have estrogen receptors so there is a slight risk when on some form of hormone replacement. 2. I had a radical hysterectomy and thus…

So my sister's CA125 went from 15 two months in a row to 38.4........the Doctor order a CT scan that didn't show anything, but he was still concerned that something was lurking since she has already had 2 reoccurrences. He really prefers a PET scan, but her insurance considers it unnecessary!!!! So, he did another CA125…

For Ro
Ro I read somewhere in the blogs that your insurance may not pay for doxil. FIGHT IT. It is now recommended for relapses of ovarian and uterine cancer. Send the company articles. Have your Doctor fight for you. Be assertive; tell your Doctor you want him to fight for it; not have someone in the office do it. Plain…

Sad Day
My mother, dearest of all people to me, got the results of Monday's CT scan. The "original" mass on her bladder, debulked 1/22/10, has doubled in size even through 4 courses of Ixempra. There are 2-3 new tumors. There is one last drug to try, but the tumor assay did not have a favorable response to anything. The doctor was…

What tests are required in the first year after the cancer diagnosis?
Yesterday I saw my radiologist-oncologist. Some of you who read my posts already know that I had a big dilemma about radiation and finally I said no to radiation. My radiologist was very nice and not too “pushy” at all. He simply explained that right now it is easier to deal with microscopic (if any left I still have in…
