I start chemo treatments on Tue. 11/29 and heard smoking during treatments is bad. I usually smoke about a pack a day but have cut way back to 2-3 cigarettes a day. Did anyone smoke during their treatments? From what I read, smoking interferes with the effectivenss of chemo. Hope that 2 or 3 cigarettes a day won't do too…

Who here is using food to better their prognosis, either in conjunction with other therapies or even
Does it seem to be working, in your opinion? What types of things are you doing? Books you've relied on or different types of doctors you have used to guide you. Another question goes like this. If you have been doing "x", "y", and "z",then you get cancer, have treatment and continue doing whatever "x" etc, were, do you…

a week of great sadness and great relief........
This week has been so mixed for me. Firstly, the sad news of Linda's passing, which hit so many of us so badly. But, today, the news that my latest PET/CT scan is clear - no uptake anywhere. We had ordered it to try and determine whether the "mass" on the left side of my pelvis was recurrence or fibrosis - it turns out to…

I am freaking out
Okay, I am totally freaking out because I just found out I have a one inch "blastoma" lining my uterine wall. Geez, no one in the ER used the word "cancer" and after the finding (from vaginal and pelvic unltrasound), everyone's behavior changed from professional to plain "odd". Hmmmm....I am going to see whether my OBGyn…

Bleeding for no reason?
I had uterine cancer in October 2010. Full hysterectomy and no followup treatments as the cancer had not spread. Wasn't really given a "stage" but after looking on the internet I would say it was 1B and Grade 2. In May of this year I wiped and found blood. It stopped and I dug my head in the sand and decided to tell no…

Calcium and an anti-cancer diet
I wanted to report on the physical exam that I had today with my regular internist. This is the first time I have seen a "regular" doctor since being diagnosed with UPSC more than three years ago. First, let me give a plug for the anti-cancer diet, the benefits of which seem to go far beyond helping to prevent a…

Alkaline diet versus the anti-cancer diet
For the past year or so, I have been designing my meals according to an alkaline foods chart--aiming for a 70/30 ratio between alkaline and acidic foods, which is what the chart recommends. Numerous studies, including those completed at top cancer hospitals, have shown that some cancer cells grow faster in an acidic…

Hope
I was diagnosed in 2007 with UPSC stage 3C. I'm posting tonight for anyone who needs some hope. I saw my oncologist today and I am doing great.
