Spotting last week and tomorrow's 6 month follow up
Last week I had definite spotting after a 4 month break from any spotting. When I called the onc surgeon to report it, i was told it was probably because I started exercising. Why didnt they tell me that many months the road i could bleed for a reason unrelated to a recurrence of cancer? The staff seemed so indifferent. If…

Clinical Trial-Recentin
I have been on a GOG clinical trial for Stage IIIC papillary serous uterine carcinoma for 4 months. This is an oral medication that is in the same class as Avastin. My GYN team has very little experience with the side effects of this medication and the first couple of months were quite traumatic because I was coping with…

Not a good news day today!
Today was not a good news day! My oncologist rang to say that my latest MRI scan shows a new nodule in the pelvis. This will be my third recurrence and the options in the armoury are getting less and less. So, here we go on the merry-go-round of PET scans, biopsies and possibly more major surgery (if it is an isolated…

Mum's update
I have been posting and lurking on these boards for a long time now. My mum's original diagnosis was UPSC stage IIIC grade 3 in November 2010. She was given the all clear July 2011 and the cancer came back in the supraclavicular and para aortic lymph nodes within 3 months. Following this mum decided she didn't want to do…

Is it okay to use estrogen cream?
I haven't been able to find anything that is an effective moisturizer. I've heard estrogen cream is the only thing that works but I was also told that endometrial cancer thrives on estrogen. Any thoughts?

My journey has started
I had a radical hysterectomy with removal of the omentum. Dr. Said he could see no visual signs of the serous papillary cancer outside of my uterus. The pathology report will be the only absolute answer to that question. I am totally in God's hands. I am feeling great nd walking around and able to cook and pick things up…

Mom's recent Grade 3 diagnosis- is it UPSC? Confused
My Mom was diagnosed a few weeks ago with grade 3 endometrial cancer. She didn't find out the best way- the doctor hadn't read her notes properly before her appointment, and opened the results up in front of her. She read it off the screen before he did. She remembers reading 'Endometrial Cancer, Grade 3, Serous' and they…

What type specialist would you recommend????
As posted a week ago, had my 6-month check with oncologist and all went great. Unfortunately I've not been able to keep my lower back pain at a good level, so he requested an MRI. Results of MRI -- moderate disk protrusion on L5 vertebra, appearing to compress S1 nerve root. Basically what this is saying, my lowest…

Got good news today
It has been four weeks since my last lab test, and seven weeks since my last chemo. My CA-125 went from 60 to only 79. That is a much smaller increase than when I ended my second round of chemo. I was very happy. I will start on homone therapy now. I will start on aromasin which is a newer aromatase inhibitor. It is like…

My mom was recently diagnosed with UPSC. She goes in for her hysterectomy etc on the 26th of June. I'm sure you all know already but the reading I've been doing online about UPSC is pretty grim. What I would like to know from those who have been fighting this disease, what has been successful for you in your treatment. Did…

Trial?
Has anyone been hearing about the "exciting" new drug going into trials at M.D>Anderson? Every one here is buzzing about something called AV-203. Seems like it is for solid tumors, but I'm not smart enough to make heads or tails about. Maybe some of you smarter ones can check it out. Best, debrajo

Study of the EFFECTIVENESS of chemo versus radiation for Uterine Carcinosarcoma
We were told by several oncologists that having carcinosarcoma (in this case MMMT) of the uterine, we would have to have radiation as well as chemo. This was the established protocol. But, we were lucky enough to find a study on the efficacy of chemo versus radiation for this aggressive type of cancer cell. Because this…

Do I have something to worry about?
I am 54 years old and have had problems with post menopausal bleeding for 15 years with numerous endometrial biopsies, D&C's, with endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial polyps. My bleeding returned a few months ago prompting me once again to go to my usual GYN office and last week's u/s showed uterine enlargement ( a new…

Swollen Lymph Nodes
Does anyone know how large lymph nodes can swell to? I have had been left with 2 swollen lymph nodes after recieving 8 rounds of chemotherapy which I finished during August 2011. They have stayed around the same size until my last scan that shows one is now 24mm by 39mm. I am wondering if this is now too large to treat,…

Good News
Diagnosed with UPSC 3-C in Sept. 2010. Jan. 2012 PET scan showed mets to both lungs. Surgically removed nodule in left lung with clear margins. Just finished 6 rounds of Carbo/Gemzar. Pet scan showed remaining two nodules in right lung greatly diminished in size and no longer "light up." Nothing anywhere else. So I'm…

Chemo for MMMT
Hi all, I was DX with MMMT/Carcinosarcoma 3C1 after hysterectomy on April 30, 2012. I started chemo on June 14 but had reaction to Taxol (severe back pain that was like being hit with an axe in the lower back). I had the Carbo and that went just fine. My next chemo was July 5th when we tried the 24 hr infusion of watered…

UPSC Stage 1a
Hi, I have never posted here before but have read many of yours and it has helped me very much. I am 57 years old and in good physical condition. I was diagnosed with UPSC stage 1A in October 2011 after a routine pap test showed abnormal cells. I hate to say it but it had been 3 years since my last test. I was cleaning out…

Almost there...
I only have two more external radiations left. My radiologist then wants to "spot-weld" the two lymph nodes that did show a bit of uptake. Finally I have two brachey treatments and I am DONE! I cannot wait. Although extended-field radiation has not been easy, I do feel like it is my best chance for a cure. I just wanted to…

Any suggestions to build platelets and avoid infection during Chemo
As I mentioned before, my daughter was dx in 11/2011 with ALL. Horrible journey with chemo and since we do not do blood transfusions the Doctors claim that it will be very challenging since her case is bloodless even though we are in a hospital that has several bloodless programs. "Anyway, If anyone knows what we can use…

MRI RESULTS
In preparation for radiation to my two brain tumor sites, I had an MRI on Monday. My rad/onc nurse called yesterday to let me know that there are no changes showing from my CT Scan, no additional cell growth is noted and that results are what my Dr. wanted to see. On Monday, I go for the simulation to start 5 radiation…
