I had invasive cervical cancer in my late 20s and breast cancer in my 40s. My mother has had breast and uterine cancer. I am calm…

What should I request?
I am having my one year mark appointment with my oncologist on Friday. A few months ago, he told me he was going to order a PET scan. I received an approval from my insurance to have a CT scan of my chest, abdomen and pelvis. PET and CT scans are not the same, right? I am going to call my doctor on Tuesday to request a PET…

How is recurrent adenocarcinoma different than MMMT and UPSC?
I've just been diagnosed with recurrent endometrial cancer. My original treatment was in 2005 with hysterectomy and pelvic radiation. I was Stage IC, FIGO Grade 2. I have been encouraged to considered myself "cured," even immediately after my first treatment. I had regular exams and chest x-ray annually until 2010, and…

Biopsy negative
Got my biopsy results today. I was told by phone they were negative but the doctor did not get a complete sample. (I haven't had children so it was difficult to get to the upper end of my uterus. I've read here about others with a similar experience.) I've been off birth control pills for a year or so. The GYN wants to put…

Mom Has UPSC - Just Need to Talk
Hi Everyone, I've posted once about my mother. She was diagnosed about 5 months ago, and she will probably not make it much longer. It's really unbelievable how quickly things have progressed with her cancer. Unfortunately her cells are very chemo-resistant and she did not handle the chemo well. Well, she didn't handle the…

Consumer Reports article on health-care costs
I'm new here so not sure if this is appropriate. And most people here have already made choices about doctors and such or are locked into things with their insurance plans but just in case I thought this might be of interest. The current issue of Consumer Reports (July 2012) has an article about health-care prices and a…

Completed the the 6th round of chemo this Thursday and Friday. Two long days again, but no problems this time. They switched the anti nausea medications back to what I had on round 4 and I had no nausea so far. I hope it keeps up that way. I will still put my patch on Saturday or Sunday and see if it works any better this…

Doxil and/or Gemzar and Radiation
Hola from the ovarian board. I know that many of you receive chemo and radiation for uterine cancer. Ovarian cancer patients don't generally receive radiation, but I know a woman with Clear Cell, who has read research saying her chances are improved with radiation. She has had two surgeries, as her cancer recurred before…

Hysterectomy: GYN or GYN Oncologist?
I will have a biopsy in a couple of weeks. If I have uterine cancer, my GYN said that will mean an immediate hysterectomy. I spoke with her nurse earlier this week and she said my GYN would do that hysterectomy. If I have cancer, do I want my regular GYN to do the hysterectomy or do I want a GYN oncologist to do the…

Updated roll call/words of wisdom?
It's been a a few years since Linda P started the roll call. Reading the intros I was surprised with the volume of UPSC sisters...although the gyn/onc practice I go to in Dallas is one of the larger in the area I've yet to meet anyone with 'my' cancer. Anyhow, I'm 7 months post-diagnosis and thought I'd share a bit about…

Surgery over and doing well - post op check up on Tuesday
on April 25th, surgery(Da Vinci) went well - was home the next day, off all pain meds on the 3rd day home and spent last week resting (actually spending extra time with the grandkids - which is the best medicine anyway). Tumors are still growing after the 1st Chemo
My sister just had another CT scan after her 1st chemo. The doctor didn't mention anything good or bad but I did notice the size of those tumors are still growing compared to the size shown from her previous CT right before the Chemo. Does anyone know if this means this type of chemo is not working? She will be having her…

Blood Clot post-chemo
I had chemo on April 24 and I was thrilled it only took 2 sticks to get the IV flowing. All was going well until the last 15 minutes when I was halfway through my carboplatin. IV started hurting but I was going to be damned if I said anything because that would mean additional sticks and a longer day. Big mistake.…

Hi All, I received my biopsy results on Tuesday--cancer--and will be seeing the oncologist tomorrow morning. Most of my worry at this point…
