EMA/ CO
I have been diagnosed with Gestational Trophoblastic Disease- stage 3 Chriocarcinoma. When originally diagnosed I was told that this was an easy fix, a weekly shot of methotrexate would do the trick. When that didn't work I would did the methotrexate five days a week every other week. This treatment has now failed and it…

Some prayers for my friend, please
My good friend was dx'd with Stage 3 something UPSC less than a year ago. She has been on some treatment constantly and has had continued progression. She's switching from Topotocan to Doxil - started yesterday - because there is more progression. I don't know where, it's not important. She's pretty sick, has been…

Hysterectomy: GYN or GYN Oncologist?
I will have a biopsy in a couple of weeks. If I have uterine cancer, my GYN said that will mean an immediate hysterectomy. I spoke with her nurse earlier this week and she said my GYN would do that hysterectomy. If I have cancer, do I want my regular GYN to do the hysterectomy or do I want a GYN oncologist to do the…

Updated roll call/words of wisdom?
It's been a a few years since Linda P started the roll call. Reading the intros I was surprised with the volume of UPSC sisters...although the gyn/onc practice I go to in Dallas is one of the larger in the area I've yet to meet anyone with 'my' cancer. Anyhow, I'm 7 months post-diagnosis and thought I'd share a bit about…

Surgery over and doing well - post op check up on Tuesday
on April 25th, surgery(Da Vinci) went well - was home the next day, off all pain meds on the 3rd day home and spent last week resting (actually spending extra time with the grandkids - which is the best medicine anyway). Only real issue is the itching of the incisions but I am happy with that is all I have to complain…

Tell me it's not true
We're in Salt Lake City, Utah, we just landed today from LA were my husband had business and as my CT came back pretty good, it showed the radiation shrunk the rumors in my pelvic area, but unfortunately there was a new spot on my lung. Upper left lung. Nothing is definitive until my PET scan a two weeks from today. so I…

Tumors are still growing after the 1st Chemo
My sister just had another CT scan after her 1st chemo. The doctor didn't mention anything good or bad but I did notice the size of those tumors are still growing compared to the size shown from her previous CT right before the Chemo. Does anyone know if this means this type of chemo is not working? She will be having her…

Blood Clot post-chemo
I had chemo on April 24 and I was thrilled it only took 2 sticks to get the IV flowing. All was going well until the last 15 minutes when I was halfway through my carboplatin. IV started hurting but I was going to be damned if I said anything because that would mean additional sticks and a longer day. Big mistake.…

My daughter in law just lost her cousin to Uterine Cancer. Jessie was just 34 years old. She never married or had children. She was bleeding heavy when she had her periods which isn't unusual for some people. She finally got fed up and went to the doctor who did a uterine biopsy and they found the cancer. Had a…

Most of my worry at this point…

Completed 3rd round of Chemo
I finished my 3rd (and last!) round of Taxol/Carbo last Monday. I feel pretty good now and am past my "bad" days. The bone pain was a little worse this time, as I thought it might be. I have to get my nadir test today and see where that's at now. Then I have my 3 month pelvic exam tomorrow-my first one since my surgery. My…

Now I'm Freaked! Not Sure How to Interpret Dr. Appointment This AM.
I had a consultation with my GYN/ONC this morning to go over the T8/Bone biopsy results. He was on his annual volunteer doctor trip to Guatemala last week, so his associate called me to let me know the USPC has spread to the new location. She scheduled me for the 1st appointment this morning. I could sense a totally…

Completed fifth round of chemo
Two long days again. They gave me emend IV for nausea the first day with my Cisplatin. While I was getting my post hydration, I got very nauseated and had dry heaves. Compazine usually works for me, but there is a shortage of IV compazine, so it was not available. Zofran does not work for me, so they gave me IV Ativan. It…

Help with managing Omega 6/Omega 3 ratio
The follow is an excerpt from an article whose link is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18408140 "Excessive amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and a very high omega-6/omega-3 ratio, as is found in today's Western diets, promote the pathogenesis of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease,…

Completed fourth round of chemo
Two long but uneventful days. No reactions, so that was great news. My red blood cells and white blood cells are almost unchanged from the last chemo. However my CA 125 dropped from 969 to 365. That is wonderful. I read where the blood thinner shots can make the chemo more effective. So maybe that is a plus about taking…

VENTING - Recurrence
I must be in a real mood today to Vent to all of you what's on my mind. I figure that some might see 'bplatt' and just by-pass the discussion entirely. I have no doubt many of…

Abdominal Wall Mass
I haven't posted for a while - sorry! I had a full hysterectomy in October 2010 for Uterine cancer. Never really given a stage - but didn't have to have chemo or radiation - so I am guessing 1X. In the past 6 - 8 months I have felt a mass in my pelvic/abdomen area. I have seen several doctors - no one really paid attention…

Lung Nodules
I have a question about lung nodules. I had a CAT scan done back in Nov and 2 nodules showed up (very small). The Dr said this does happen and he doesn't think its anything, but I need to follow up with another scan to make sure they don't grow. I had the follow up 2 months later and they didn't change in size. He said…
