I've been off my levo and on the LID for 23 days and my TSH level is still only 6.6. My oncologist says it needs to be >30 for me to take the RAI. I'm still feeling fine, just sick of the diet. I'm following the thyroid cancer survivors diet very strictly. I have recurring Hurthle cell cancer. This will be my first RAI…

Will be going for my 2nd surgery
I have had TT and neck dissection back in 2008.Had 2 RAI done in the past, 150 mci and 100 mci. Recently, i had 5 FNA on my lymph nodes around my neck. The result show that only one of the nodules show up as thyroid cells. A surgery is set on 9/24/10. By the way, in my first surgery, i had 96 lymph nodes removed. Believe…

I am responding back to your response post. I had my biopsy and it came back negative. My Tg after thyrogen was 5.5 but everything else is coming back negative. When I had my surgery 2 years ago they took out all my thyroid and 8 lymph nodes. Could it be someplace else? Now what?

I remember telling the doctor, " I don't eat iodine" and he said, "Oh yes you do!" Anyway, one of the most interesting things about…

is your scar a badge of honor or something you hide
Personaly for me I try not to hide the scar and am glad to explain to others why I have the scar. It is a mark of survival to me and for me at least not something I am ashamed of. But I was wondering how many people want to hide the scar and what are the reasons?

Thyrogen v. going off meds
I am due for blood work in September and my endo wants to raise the TSH level for the test. The thyrogen injections are very expensive, so I'm thinking about going off my meds to raise the TSH. I started Nexavar on the 28th of July. At first, I was fine and I wasn't experiencing any side effects. So I thought. But I noticed I was breaking out with a rash. I started taking Benadril, but it made me worst. My feet started hurting so bad, I could hardly walk. Then my shoulder began hurting. Finally, my ear lobes…

thyrogen bloodwork...cancer or "good" thyroid tissue
When taking thyrogen injection before body scan and they take your bloodwork, if it comes back high does that mean that the mass (even though small) they saw in a sonogram is 100% cancerous or could it still be "good" thyroid tissue? What thyrogen number is considered OK and what is considered high?

I had my check up with my Endocrinologist and got my lab results. My TSH level is .02 and my Free T4 level is 1.95 which my doctor says it is ok. My TG level was 1.4, if I am not mistaken that level should also be undetectable, but according to my doctor not to worry, because it is not above 2. Can anyone give me any…

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroiditis) and was just recently diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. I am going to have a thyroidectomy very soon, and I'm concerned about the followup testing that is necessary to check for recurrence. I know that testing thyroglobulin is kind of the primary marker for recurrence, but…
