Is it still normal to have blood stools?
I have an ileostomy. Last night my stoma was very painful and I saw blood when I drained my bag. I told myself maybe because it was because of the red velvet cake that I ate, but would it cause pain??? I'm thinking of telling my onco about it. I was also thinking if it was because I was carrying my toddler and some bags which were a bit heavy that's why my stoma was "stressed out". I'm a bit afraid now. It wasn't a good day for me yesterday due to some personal problems and now I wake up seeing blood on my bag. Ugh.

Blood
A stoma can bleed very easily. If you rub it or injure it, it doesn't like it. The stoma has blood vessels which are very close to the surface so if it's blood that is around the stoma it is possible but if the bag looks like more than that I'd tell the doctor. This is a process of learning and it's always good to tell your doctor everything even if you think it's nothing. Hope that everything is okay.
