FOLFOX side effect and Artery infusion of Chemo agent
My brother has stage IV and he finished his first chemo 2 wks ago using 5-FU/Leucovorin. After talking to some doctors we think it might be more effective to resume with addition of Oxaliplatin, which will be the FOLFOX regimen. If you have taken this therapy before can you tell me what are the major side effects and how…

My dad was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in May 02. It came back to his liver in April 04 (operated and back on chemo) and October 05 (operated and starting chemo soon). According to the surgeon his tumors are slow growing. My question is about spread to the lungs. What are the odds that it will spread to the lungs…

Good News
My Dad had his 1st scans this week since starting the camptosar/Erbitux combo in September. The tumors have shrunk 30 - 40% which the Dr. was very pleased with. Particularly with the progress in his liver. The Dr. is going to keep him on this combo for 4 more cycles and do scans again. Once the tumors have shrunk…

Question about CPT-11 + Erbitux
Hello everyone. Well, once again my oncologist decided today that I am too sick to do another chemotherapy cycle. He was uncomfortable with the fact that I have had excessive diarrhea for a week. So, we are stopping the 5FU + Oxaliplatin + Avastin, and after a two week break I will switch to CPT-11 + Erbitux. We are hoping…

xeliri + avastin
Hey all: If anyone on this board is on xeliri and avastin can they let us know? My husband has to make a treatment decision of folfiri plus avastin OR xeliri plus avastin. We have heard folfiri and xeliri work about the same but he much prefers the thought of taking the 5FU orally rather than have a continuous infusion…

Radiation for liver mets anyone?
I just read an interesting article about a new targeted radiation treatment for the liver that accurately pinpoints the tumor and leaves other areas undamaged by the radiation. Apparently it's a new technique just developed and 88% successful in controlling liver tumor growth. Here's the link…

LiveStrong??
I say EAT STRONG!! Okay - I'm on the soap-box for nutritional work to keep cancer at bay.....'cuz every time I read of a recurrence, it scares the hell out of me (and I am really sad for the on-site person or their loved one). There are people here who have had tumors disappear; and that is amazing -- and believable. If…

Hi all, Well...it looks like I got the dreaded adhesions. I was hopitalized again last week with cramping and vomiting. I had surgery Sept 9. Was re-hospitalized at the end of Sept with vomiting and cramping. They thought it was Ileus (slow moving bowels post-op). They sent me home and put me on Reglan, WHICH BY THE WAY…

What's your CEA?
For those here with colorectal cancer, you've probably heard the term "tumour marker" associated with "CEA" (carcinoembryonic antigen, a protein molecule that is sometimes considered indicative of how effective or not treatment may be.) If it's not too personal to ask, what has your CEA level been, both at initial…

colorectal cancer/colostomy
My father just found out he has colorectal cancer. He is going to start radiation/chemo next week for 5 weeks. They are trying to shrink the tumor, if that does not work, then he will have the surgery and the colostomy. I would like to get in touch with someone that has a colostomy and how it effects your daily life. He…

Need to Vent
I am so upset. Not only is going through cancer bad enough but on top of it we have to battle the insurance companies, the lack of competant staff at the doctors offices to correctly submit claims and so on. Just when I think that I have finished my fighting, here we go again. I just received a letter from the insurance…
