Thanks from Katie in Pensacola
You guys are great, I really appreciate hearing from people that really live with the colostomy. Friends and family tell you "lots of people do it", my response has been, "yeah, but not you". Now that I've heard from so many, my fears are greatly reduced, I will follow the overwhelming advice to speak to the ostomy nurse…

mets to spleen
I was wondering if anyone has had mets to the spleen. My husband was dx'd with stage 4 in June of 2005. In the beginning, there were only spots on the liver. He has been treated with all the combos of drugs including one that was used many years ago before for all the new treatments were available. Currently, he continues…

Rectal bleeding after surgery??
I had surgery three weeks ago. Doc removed 10" of colon, and 50% of my rectum. BM's haven't been great. VERY frequent and small. This morning there was blood in the bowl, and on the toilet tissue. The blood was light. Has anyone ever experienced this? If it wasn't Saturday, I'd ring the surgeon's office. Thanks.

Another newbie...
Hey all...after weeks of lurking, I figured it's time for me to finally register, say hello and introduce my/ourselves, and give a great big "thank you" for all the great information we've found here so far. I'm the husband of Staci, a 32-year-old who certainly doesn't look like there's anything the matter with her…

Finally, the attack plan is set!
We still don't have all the answers, but have gone ahead with the attack plan. The colon cancer nurse navigator came down from the other office to be at my appointment with me. She is a real gem – a great source of information specific to colon cancer and treatments, and she knows her way around the lab, insurance…

Radiation Starts Tomorrow
Tomorrow I begin a program of radiation to knock back a recurrent tumour that started on the outside of the rectum and has grown into the sacrum. Ouch! I'm scheduled for 15 daily treatments from now until mid-October. This is all part of dealing with what is a very discouraging development in my 5-year journey with stage 4…

What?
Since my husband was diagnosed in 2006, his hearing has deteriorated significantly. He did have chemotherapy (Xeloda, Camptosar and Avastin) but did not have radiation. Has this happened to anyone else? Perhaps his hearing problem is simply the result of growing older, but I wonder about the coincidence of this…

My Alaskan Mother... She is with the Lord now
Hello I was on here briefly in the last couple months asking questions concerning my mothers needs and health issues and some of you were wonderfully supportive in your responses. I felt to at least let you all know that my Mom passed away on Sept 7th. We are going to be celebrating her new life with the Lord as a Family…

Finding it hard to be hopeful
I have been reading the new board for a few weeks and you have all inspired me and given me hope. You all handle your disease with such grace and dignity. My dad is 72 years old. A Cancer Journal
Oldtimers here will remember me from a couple of years ago during which time I was dealing with a rogue liver met. Now that I'm off work again and…
