Over two years into treatment and it finally happened
Some of you may find this disturbing so don't read it. I haven't had a complete evacuation bowel movement since my colectomy 22 months ago. I've come close, but a complete bowel movement for me usually occurs in 2-3 stages. I'm pretty sure this was caused by the primary tumor being located half in the sigmoid and half in…

What size was your tumor?
In another topic, a couple of posts discussed tumor size, and that got me wondering what size tumors the rest of the people in the group had, and how much colon was removed. I’m stage IIA and the size of my tumor was 8.5 x 7.5 x 2.5 cm. The surgeon said it was the size of an orange. They took 20 cm of the ascending colon.…

She is newly diagnosed and has had no…

Are there any new colon cancer drugs actually ready for FDA approval?
I keep reading that there are all these promising colon cancer drugs "in the pipeline." I confess that I find that very hopeful. My husband's recent diagnosis of a serious recurrence and the oncologist's statement that the chemotherapy mixture of oxaliplatin, vectribix, and xeloda represents the last drugs he (the…

Radiation therapy
Are there any Rectal cancer patients that used Brachytherapy (contact radiotherapy) as their method of radiation treatment? It seems better suited to low rectal tumors than (standard)external beam radiation having less surrounding tissue damage. Just wondering how many people were offered this option. What about…

Is there a prep for CT scans of abdomen, pelvis and chest??
I have seen where some people have prepped for their CT scans? When I had some CT scans prior to surgery, the only thing I was told was not to eat for 4 hours before the scan. Is there anything else that I am missing? Everyone have a blessed Easter.

VERY exciting words....
Surgical removal or resectioning of colorectal liver metastasis has been demonstrated to be not only safe, but effective, especially when there is no evidence of cancer outside the liver and the surgery is performed by an experienced liver surgeon. “The surgery is safer, the chemo is better and we are curing a lot more…
