Curious about Ileos & Colos
How many have had an ileostomy and how many a colostomy? When I read different boards about takedowns/reversals which I hope to have around April 2011, I mostly read about the ileostomy reversals. I have a end colostomy and was wondering how different are things after reversal for the colostomies vs ileostomies?

Welcome & Support Hannahznana
My husband was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in August 2007. He almost didn't survive the first surgery. It took months with multiple organ failures, MERSA, had to be trached and now on his 3rd chemo (5FU and CPT-11). This one has been so hard on all of us. I was his caregiver when the Doctors gave up and suggested…

Not just stable but so much better. I am going to drop the Irinotecan and just do the Vectibix for the next three months and then have another scan. If…

Hot Damn - Reconnection time!!!!!!
Had the enema X-Ray today and my colon surgeon also shoved his damn scope up me to see how the resection is healing. All looked great so I will be getting reconnected Nov 17th. He said I will be in the hospital 2 to 3 days after. Could have done it earlier but that would have screwed up deer season for me. It is imperative…

Hi all, I am writing this for my sister as she is in shock from her diagnosis and needs help formulating a plan. She is 45 years old, in otherwise extremely good health. Exercises 3 or more days a week, petite and not overweight. Very healthy lifestyle making this all the more confusing. Anyway, she when in for what she…

1st chemo today oxal and 5fu with Mag/Cal infusion before
Things went good, I think...it was very busy in the room, to the point that there was a patients husband sitting in a folding chair directly in front of me. He had two freckles on the back of his right ear, if that gives you an indication of how crowded it was. That was uncomfortable to us, but I guess we'll get used to…

I forgot to tell you guys that I talked to my surgeon about taking daily Tagamet. He just smiled and said “that’s why I had you on the stomach acid pills for two weeks after surgery”. Colonoscopy
I had a colonoscopy on Wednesday. This was a screening. No polyps, all clear. I am 3 years cancer free. It has not been easy getting this far. Realize that time worrying everyday about the what if's of the cancer coming back is time stolen from your life. Cancer will hold you prisoner in your mind if you let it. I chose to…
