looking for some objective opinions
Hello fellow CC survivors, I having been doing some naturopathic things for about a year now . . . . on top of loads of exercise, and continually changing/modifying my diet. Now I am looking into mistletoe injections and/or Vitamin C IV. My naturopathic doctor is open to doing both or either with me. I don't know the cost…

OT..........Retired today
At 3 pm this evening I walked out of my Powerhouse after 27 years and retired. I am dedicating this retirement day to all of my friends here in remembrance that even though I have cancer, I also have made it to retirement, something I wished for for a long time...now, my next goal is to see both kids graduate from High…

What were you doing 10 years ago today?
I was in my office talking to a parent when the secretary came in and said someone called and said a plane flew into the Pentagon. I didn't realize the ramifications of that until we turned on the TV and saw the Twin Towers. I was a middle school principal in building shared with a high school. I went down to speak with…

Is there a way of getting around wearing that stupid pump?!?!
I'm 30 years old and was diagnoised with Stage 3 Colon Cancer in April - no cancer in my family so this was a huge shock to my husband and I. I had major surgery to remove part of my colon and the tumor soon after the discovery. I just finished 6 rounds of chemo (oxaliplatin) through a port in my chest. I do this every…

What's going on with my mom?
Mom was doing ok up until about three weeks ago. She has been on Erbitux (only) for about 9 weeks. Her right side started hurting her and ct scan showed tumor on her colon. The PET scan did not show that about 6 weeks ago. Went to the surgeon Wednesday and he's gonna get with other surgeons to see if surgery is an option.…

Walking
Monday my back turned into a knot and I missed my walking Mon, Tues, Wed. Work on my feet all day and the knotted up back is not fun. Of course the numb feet from the neurapathy doesn't help much either. Still knotted up but I did my 3.5 mile today. I just did it at a slower pace, 3.8 MPH vs 4.5 MPH and took twelve more…

How Long To Feel Normal Self Once Chemo is Done?
Hi there... Next Tuesday I will have my 12th and last Folfox and Erbitux treatment. This is my second time with cancer but the first time I did the Xeloda pills and didn't feel the effects I have with this chemo (tired, naseaus, etc.). my up and down CEA- down this time :)
CEA had been rising again- 4 wks ago it was up to its all time high of 359. I got it drawn again this past Tuesday and got results today- it went down 80 points in 4 weeks to 279. Still high, but definitely a big drop in the right direction. The time before when it went up so much was following my 8 day cruise to Mexico…

Painful Shoulders/Arms
The ones I've been complaining about for months? Turns out it's "impinged shoulders", (inflamed around rotor cuff)I've had it since my surgery, sometimes not so bad, sometimes severe, it's been so bad I couldn't raise my arms for the past week, talk about pain. LOL, a cortisone shot in each shoulder, and the pain has…

Remission?
So the question is: When does a cancer patient proclaim remission? I am happy to report my last scan in August was clear. This is two good scans and 6-months. Living life without Chemo is a very good thing. I wish anyone currently in treatment the best and know there is a future beyond treatment sessions and chemo side…

terminology for newbies
From time to time,i check the Colon Club to see what they have might be of interest to this site. I originally found a list of abbreviations that helped me a lot. Today I checked, and there was this list just waiting to be liberated and reside on this site. If you are new, these terms should really help, and it's good…

Taken off Erbitux
Went to get my treatment today but platelet count was below 100,000 so the onconlogist won't give a full treatment. Last week he gave me only 400ml of Erbitux. The week before that I got my full treatment except he stopped Avistin and gave me 700ml of Erbitux thinking it would help keep my platelets up. Today when I just…

Mucinous?
Hi, I'm new to this board, so bear with me if this a duplicate question.... When I was diagnosed in January of this year with Stage IV, my onc said that it was mucinous adeno carcinoma. So even though there’s no mets in my liver or other organs (but my colon was breached and present in lymph nodes), doc says the fact that…

Radiation for three weeks as well for pain. Dr said this was the last option, Erbitux wasn't working anymore, and we will have to see if the other will…

Hi I'm new to this site
I am now 53. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer on September 9th, 2010 with mets to the liver. I had a colon resection (right hemicolectomy), 6 treatments of Folxfox, liver resection and 5 treatments of Xeloda. blood clot
Hi. I'm in the hospital with a blood clot in my lung. Glad I made the decision to go to the ER. I was feeling pretty dumb for a while because by the time I got to the hospital the pain was gone. I'm learning it is better to be safe than sorry.
