saliva and painful tears?
Is this typical with chemo? Tons of saliva. It's been a week of it since my last (2nd) treatment. And it hurts my eyeballs to cry. Maybe it will help me "buck up" a little :) But I cry easily when I'm feeling grateful or loved or watching a touching commercial. -Biz

Have a great, safe Labor Day Weekend!
I woke up to the smell of coffee; I stretched as my husband walked in with my coffee and morning kiss. A few minutes later, I tiptoed to the atrium room, where my husband was working on my computer. I sat on my wonderful couch and sipped my coffee to the sound of water dripping in my nearby water fountain. Listening to the…

Why can't we agree to disagree?
Just read Emily's post as I had seen it had shot up to 78 new messages. Been coming here as some of you know since I got diagnosed back in 2009, and I know we have arguments about either religion or alternative medicine. This is why I remember once Donna saying to me, when it gets like this on here everyone goes and hangs…

I had a good day!
Today I got some results. I saw my onc for my 3 month visit after finishing all the treatments. I know I was not stage 4 like many of you here but believe me, my stage 3C 2 1/2 in occluding tumor and 6/12 lymph nodes nearly scared the daylights out of me and my loving family. Today I found out lab work...all good…

Has anyone had exploratory laproscopy for high CEA but negative PET scans?
I finished my treatment in May 2010. My PET scans have been clear, but my CEA number keeps climbing. It was 160 ng/ml after my surgery and before I started treatment. It was 3.4 ng/ml (normal) when I stopped treatment and I has slowly creeped back up 3-6 points every blood test...now I am at 45 ng/ml. We think that the…

Insurance
So, I've been walking 3.5 miles a day, eating oatmeal, avoiding fast food, avoiding foods that may have cholesterol, and all around trying to eat and live healthy. Why? Because I thought I needed to pass health tests (BMI-Cholesterol-blood sugar-blood pressure) to qualify for $900 towards my health insurance deductible.…

Folfox and supplements?
Hi gang, Just had the first day of the first Folfox treatment and no problems so far but I am a rookie and know they will come. I'm wondering if people have had good luck with any supplements. My oncologist told me to take B6- 100 mg 3 times a day but says that is for the foot/hand problem that comes with 5-FU (which I did…

Brooks? I heard he moved to Timbuktu.
Nope… I’m still around and kicking but just not kicking as hard as I used to. LOL I didn’t leave CSN because of the arguing even though the fighting does get old but being what we’re going through I think we all just get a little stressed out. Cancer will do that to a person. I thought I gave everybody a update on my…

August 31 - a day I hate, but a day that saved my life
Today is my cancerversary - the day that forever changed my life 2 years ago. I finally found out what was causing my awful pain, plus causing mucous and blood in my stool on and off for 2 years. I was almost fully obstructed, so my colonscopy was over as quickly as it started. The surgeon was called, and the wheels set in…

Editing Threads and Posts
Did you reread your post and realize that you did not mean to say that? Did you take offense to the tone in someone else's post? Tone in the written language is often inadvertent. The perception of the written word is as dependent on the reader as it is on the writer. If you are the thread starter, you can always go back…

Frustrated
We had a private insurance for six months after diagnoses but then would have had to pay 2000 a month for major medical so I applied for our state insurance and got it with only a 176.00 premium per month but I can sure tell the difference, it's been 2 weeks since the doc ordered some tests and we are just getting them…
