daily steroids
Hi All- I am currently undergoing my second round of chemo. I have a lot of pain from my rectal tumor and it hurts the most when I am sitting in a chair. This has lead to me missing a lot of work. I take morphine, acetominiphine, and gabapentin every day but they only make the pain manageable for staying home and laying on…

Your Oncologist is NOT a nutritionalist
I was just reading an article about Leaky Gut Syndrome. At the end of the article, it mentions talking to your Doctor before starting any supplemental regime. That led me to think about some of the comments I have read on various forums, including here. Folks upset with their Oncologist because they were not told what they…

I am at a loss
I don't feel like I can say this anyplace but here I try not to say much on Facebook because my husband hates his business out there. I think he might be dying. He had a stent replacement before halloween and they could barely advance the scope, but they did. They removed and replaced two stents. within a week he was very…

CEA decreased but onco says cannot continue treatment...
My mom was diagnosed with MET colorectal last year which had Metastasized to liver, bilobar. Her CEA at that time was 1600, her first line treatment went well, but within 3 months we were back to square one. At this time her CEA dropped to 800. With second line chemo the recent PET scan showed that the size of the cells…

Wow, it's been 12 years since diagnosis. It was the day before Thanksgiving for me to have my first colonoscopy, and that is when they discovered the tumor that my doctor thought was a hemorrhoid. That was the hardest Thanksgiving of my life as the news was kept from my 8 children so they were able to enjoy their day. My…

Appendix Cancer
I am looking for others that have been diagnosed with Cancer Of the appendix or better none as a Goblet Cell Carcinoid. I have had a tough time finding information on this type of Cancer. I have completed Chemo and I am now cancer free but with this being such a rare form I would like to talk with others about there…

Dad's Update: Liver Mets Confirmed, Chemo Started and Visit to Surgeon
Hello All, Just a quick background, my father was diagnosed with colon cancer with liver mets August 2019 and completed FOLFOX in April 2020. Scans right after his last therapy showed elevated CEA. CT scan of liver coupled with liver biopsy revealed infection but “NO lesions”. The blood culture-confirmed the growth of…

Stalking the board
So I have developed this habit of sort of randomly clicking back through this board and reading the posts, then I will go and click on the user to view their profile. From this behavior I have became super distressed by seeing all of the people who either disappear, or end up on a "people we lost" post when I search their…

Abrub is back
It’s been a while. Overall, I’m doing well, however, I’ve had 3 cancer-related surgeries since July, and a temporary colostomy. My appendix cancer came back in my peritoneum a year ago, but I was considered inoperable because of some questionable spots on my lungs. Thus, back to chemo – FolFiri + Avastin. Abdominal cancer…

Is colorectal cancer inoperable and incurable?
Are colorectal adenomas located in the esso-rectal part and in the pelvis (the size of the adenoma 5.1-6.5) inoperable and incurable? The water immediately drained into the bag. The patient was drastically losing sight and the doctors, regardless of that, forced a biopsy, infected the whole organism and pumped antibiotics…

Things looking up dare I say it ?
Hello From the start my dad's diagnosis has been a roller coaster we always have struggled to get clear answers . Now it looks like we finally are finding out why it appears it's because of dad's neurofibromatosis . We went from last week being told he needs " lifelong chemo " and is stage 4 to now he's back at stage 3…

My NED is gone, I think
So... Does anyone remember in July when I said my onc said there was a tiny nodule on my upper left lung? Well, I had the follow up scan last week, and it's grown. I'll have a PET scan this coming week, followed by a visit with my onc, and then more than likely a biopsy. She seems fairly confident that it is cancerous and…

Big Belly?
A question for you good people, hope the holiday shopping is done and you're ready to relax. We know our livers are great. You cut them in half and that half gets replaced. Unfortunately, it doesn't grow back to the regular shape, it just creates new volume in the existing tissue. So it appears my desire to have a six-pack…

Seeking info from patients who may have a similar case history.
A diagnosis of colorectal cancer in the summer of 2019 was an incidental finding when scar tissue caused by years of diverticulitis led to a colon blockage and a resection surgery of the colon. Their was no visual evidence of cancer but rare aggressive signet cancer cells were found in lymph nodes of the 12" removed colon.…

Happy Tuesday guys!! I avoid any reminders tied to cancer as much as I can but I can never ignore the warmth and support found on this forum. 6 Years Ago Today: Warning Shot Fired By Cancer
6 years ago today I opened up a scan report and there was a mention that "a neoplastic lesion cannot be excluded." They were right This is the earliest date from which I can start counting my cancer. Two weeks later another scan indicated it was cancer. Four weeks later biopsy. Six weeks my surgery.

Well, that didn’t go as I expected.
So dad met with surgical oncologist and had sigmoidoscopy today. He was prepared with his list of questions about starting certain meds before surgery, what the initial pathology may infer, things of that nature; and he was told "I don't answer those questions, you can ask your oncologist. I'm going to perform the surgery…

New Here. Just looking for support
Hi All, I am pleased to meet you, but would have preferred it to be under different circumstances. Two months ago, I had a colonospcopy scheduled due to my 50th birthday. I had some bleeding that I had mentioned to the MD, but was told it was just hemeroids. After the scope, they had found a mass and did a biopsy. The…
