Fighting Dragons or Letting Go
Those of you who have followed me know I am as real as I can be. I wear my emotions openly for the most part...too much pretense and fear in the life. I wanted to reach out and just ramble. The steroids are keeping things at bay. I hate taking them but I'm just waiting for my oldest daughter to return from the Hawaii trip…

NED Again!
I had my blood work and CT Scan done this past week, and a visit with my Oncologist yesterday. He came in, beaming from ear to ear, with the good news that my scan was clear. It must be so nice, as an Oncologist, when he sees his Stage IV patients surviving. I can't comprehend how awful it must be to be in a profession…

About those scans...
Well, the whole body nuclear bone scan can back as " no evidence of osteoblastic metastatic disease", the spine and lumbar MRI just appears to have visualized skeletal structures and found spondylolisthesis of L4 on L5 due to degeneration, and the CT PET with tumor imaging from the skullbase to the upper thighs said " no…

Recovery 2nd liver surgery
Hello, My dad is already home from his 2nd liver surgery. They got it out, it was 3,5cm big and I have the high suspicion that it was there at the beginning but not visible on CT and MRI or USG. I dont know what the doctors suspect. But they are careful. My dad said that he has a highly aggressive tumory maybe because it…

Naturopathic Doctors do what ?
So my dad and his oncologist still can't get on the same page about treatment or even if my dad still has cancer . Dad doesn't seem to want to change doctors seems to be pretty okay with the wait and watch it approach as you all can guess I'm not so okay with the wait and watch approach .Since it is not my choice however…

An update
My husband started a probiotic which strangley enough has made a huge difference in his constant time in the bathroom. He was even able to leave the house a bit. His appetite is fabulous he is eating his goal of 2800-3000 calories a day. It doesn't seem he is gaining any weight at all though. That's very concerning. His…

Dad and me been talking
My dad and me been talking his last pet scan showed what there calling a " highly suspicious " for malignancy mass in his pelvis . It didn't grow since last pet scan and FDG uptake actually went down slightly so the radiation oncologist was stumped . He still wanted to do radiation but he admitted he couldn't say 100…

New scans? CEA and Ca19-9? What could it mean?
Hello lovelies. Sorry I don't reply to my posts but your replies mean the world to me. Can't even remember where I left off but my father had an abscess near the anastomosis after his resection so he was admitted to the hospital and put on IV antibiotics. After a few days the surgeon decided to give him a (hopefully)…

2nd liver surgery
Hello, My dad had his second liver surgery yesterday. He feels much better than with the last one. It is a good sign when he calls my mom after surgery. So he was not too exhausted. Last time he lost blood and was weak for a feww days. The surgeon cut away one liver metastases. He looked and looked but could not find the…

Why can't chemo cure cancer without surgery?
I am not a surgical candidate, so it makes me so sad that chemo alone can't get us to NED. I believe that one day it will be possible, and I am hopeful it will come in time for me. But it just makes me so sad that they always say you can't be "cured" without surgery. I am mostly positive, but I just found out my friend who…

Perineural invasion
Hello, I just want to know if someone had a perineural invasion in their report. My dad had it and they got it out but if you look it up there is not a lot of it in the www and if it is most of the time a bad prognosis. But then I am thinking if it has a bad prognosis because it is hard to operate to get out? My dad is…

A bit worried about my dad
Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I usually post on behalf of my dad in the head and neck section (as he's a cancer survivor). But he's been having some issues the last few months that made me worried it's related to colorectal cancer. He has been experiencing excessive amount of burping. When I say…

Anyone ever had or heard of this ?
So we meant with the radiation oncologist and got my dad's newest pet scan results and there confusing as always. There is still something highly sususpicious for cancer in his pelvis but the confusing part is that the FDG Uptake has went down since last pet scan and the " mass" isn't getting any bigger . Anyone else ever…

New to this board.
Hi. My mother, aged 48, was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. It's been incredibly overwhelming, as I'm sure you all know. She went in for stomach bloating and they realized she has ascites and from there came more tests until we landed at this diagnosis. She has mucinous adenocarcinoma of the hepatic flexure.…

Good to still see some familiar names! I am now 5 years in.
I haven't checked in for a while on here, so I thought I would catch up a little. I had a couple years NED according to my PET scans, but I found out in the summer of 2019 that my cancer was just hard to detect, not gone. I had my third surgery in August that year and there are 40 some tumors that are only visible when you…

Appetite
So my dad has been maintaining a good weight for a while now and now with his pet scan coming up monday he seems to be losing his appetite . Not totally he eats just not like he was eating usually just kind of picks at his food or eats half of it I don't know if it's scanxiety or maybe a bad sign that the cancer has spread…
