Protein in the urine
My husband had his first treatment of Folfiri with Avastin yesterday. He's been off chemo for almost 8 mos. His last Avastin (before yesterday) was Dec. 29, 2011. When they tested his urine yesterday there was a small amount of protein present. (The nurse didn't volunteer this info, I asked). She made it seem like it was…

Surgery was yesterday **Updated**
All is done. I have a bruise the like of which I've never seen before (10 X 6 inches, deep purple and rock hard under my breast.) Problems during the needle-wire localization procedure, which were not helped by the mammo tech reeking of garlic, and needing to be entwined around me to get proper placement (for a difficultly…

Steroid recall
I seem to remember that some of you who have chemo treatments have also had steroid medication with it. I am sure by now that all have heard about the recall of a particular type which was produced at New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts. I recently read that there is now concern about another steroid product…

An update
After a slew of scans (multiple mammograms, ultrasounds, and an MRI) and a biopsy, it has been determined that I have 2 masses that need to be surgically removed. Surgery will be on Tuesday (outpatient). On a positive note, my surgeon says that all preliminary indications are that both masses are benign. However, I'll wait…

So Worried: Getting Ready to Start Folfiri plus Avastin
I'm really worried about the side effects. I did Folfox 5 years ago, and managed to work 3 days a week. I'm scared that the Folfiri plus avastin will take me down harder this time around since the treatment is different. Working is the only thing that made me feel normal. My First treatment is this Friday 10/19. I would…

Parked on by a truck
Usually when I go in for pump disconnect (getting unjacked from the Matrix as I put it), it's a fight to stay awake on the way home, and then I can only doze for half an hour at best. Thursday, however, was a totally different story. First off, I found out my CEA had only dropped 2.4 points to 402. Two weeks before it had…

Just read a story
Just read a story about a woman who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She decided to shave her head before chemo...to take control. Her loving husband had his head shaved as a show of support. As it turned out, the husband had a patch of agressive skin cancer on his now bald head. Doctors said that if it had not…
