Follow up care after completion of surgery, chemo/rad
Hello, I was diagnosed with stage 2 T3 rectal cancer back in January 2012. I have completed Chemo/rad and 3 surgeries and hopefully done with everything. I wanted to find out what kind of follow up care, checkups are needed to catch any reoccurence. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All, My husband had colon surgery a couple of months ago. He is not doing chemo at Stage 2. What is the best way to build the immune system for someone who hates vegetables aside from peas and broccoli. I'm back!
Well it is day 11postop and finally strong enough to type a lucid message on the iPad. Things have progressed as well as could be expected. They say the surgery went smoothly and was completed in one long day built they did have to take some sacrum which was less on the planner. Tumour was tethering tissue from the seminal…

New.
Good morning everyone. I'm new here so I'm not sure where to start. I guess when it all started. When I was 23, in 2010, I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I had a pap. My paps had been abnormal for a while, but this time it was different. A colposcopy and biopsy confirmed carcinoma in situ. I was told not to worry and my…

Vitamin D
At the urging of my oncologist I have been taking 1000mg of Vitamin D daily. Once before, I experienced severe joint pain in my shoulder and was told excess Vitamin D can cause this. I stopped the Vitamin D and the pain subsided. Well, I started vitamin D again and back came the pain. Has anyone else experienced this? The…

told dx under anesthesia
Just curious who was told they have cancer while coming out of anesthesia? I was and only vaguely remember it. If my family wasn't told also after surgery - I probably would have thought it was a bad dream. Doesn't change anything, just curious - seems weird to tell someone that when they aren't alert

Liver Mets
For people who have have had liver metastasis, I'm wondering how it was diagnosed. Obviously lesions or abnormalities would show up on a ct or pet scan. Do oncologists usually assume it's cancer based on the history or do they do a biopsy before starting chemo? Lesions showed up on my husbands ct. The onc ordered an MRI…

Great PET results!!
I had a PET scan yesterday and got the results today -- they are great!! I have multiple bone mets. ALL the bone mets have shrunk, several have "disappeared" (no longer metastatic), and no new nasties. Also had an MRI brain and everything looking good - no edema, further shrinkage of the spots. I am thrilled! Even my…

Welcome kangatoo!! SO glad you came out of hiding and joined us. Now you get to join in the group hugs, the venting sessions, the juicing lectures, the banter, and the support we all need to make it through each day as cancer survivors. This new drug for metastatic CRC was approved by the FDA yesterday. My question is can anyone tell me in plain English what this drug is and how it works. Does it need to be used in combo with existing CRC drugs? I want to ask the onc about it for George but would like some information before I go in there so I know what I…

Cycle 4 day 1 TRC105
CEA has dropped from 14.4 to 7.6!!! (This is a good marker for Robert) Second scan comes mid October. They are also ordering another MRI of the brain, because Robert is still having dizziness issues that can't be linked to anything., All in all, this has been fairly easy on Robert. Hi. I 'm new
My husband, Steve, and I live in Ontario. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 1999. He was quite sick off and on throughout the years. Despite regular scopes, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal in June 2011. Even though the cancer was in the sigmoid colon, the entire colon was removed because of the UC. He…

Learning to Live an Uncertain Life
NEDdish? NED-like? NEDesque? I can’t quite decide which word to choose to describe my present state. Think I might go with the last one, as it sounds all fancy and whatnot. Anyway, I’ve had two more scans since my thrilling NED scan in March. June’s PET showed an area of potential concern in the sigmoid colon (I still have…
