Cards are forth coming
I had my Christmas Cards printed up yesterday and the overseas ones are already for postage. (Reckon Pete's gonna have to wait for him to get back to Oz to get his.) I still have to stuff and seal the rest. I'd wanted to write something personal on each, but my hands are still a bit too tender. I've assigned Lulu the task…

Brian's battle is over
We lost my husband on Wednesday night 11/28/12, at 10:24 p.m. He was at home with my daughters and I. He was 55 and fought so hard to be alive to someday walk his daughters down the aisle at their weddings, to see his future grandchildren, and so much more, but it was not to be. Our hearts are broken. Thank you all for the…

Update on my mom
Hi everyone. My mom recently completed round 7 of chemo of an expected 12 and surgery after that. As i'm only the 18 year old son, i'm not fully filled in with the details, but i'm pretty sure she is receiving three chemo's- folfox, oxiliplatin, and another one that i'm not sure of the name. From rounds 3-5 she didn't…

I'm pretty excited...a personal best.
So I realize there may not be a category for this in the Guinness Book of World Records, but maybe there should be, given how many of us are dealing with cancer for years on end. As of today, I have officially made it for one whole year without any kind of surgery. Since the fall of 2009, I've been disemboweled five times,…

No mention of seeing the Dr....
Some may remember my previous post about having to cancel my 3 month bloodwork/onc appointment in Nov. My husband was leaving for a hunting trip and raised all kinds of stink about giving me the money to pay for the appointment. He has been back home for over two Weeks and has not mentioned my canceled appointments. My…

I don't want my wife to get misdiagnosed, advice please
Got some new news yesterday regarding my wife. She has had right side pain for a couple of months but has been busy taking care of me and with work so she put off seeing a doctor. She got an ultrasound yesterday and the ultrasound guy said she had a 1 1/2 inch cyst on her liver but not to worry because it looks like a…

Rectal with mets to bone only?
My husband was just diagnosed last week. We are in shock - he is 46, in good health and we have 3 kids - almost 15, 12 and a 10 month old. He's been through tons of tests, they are seeing a small spot on a bone and now he needs a bone biopsy. Nothing in the liver/lungs and the onc. says it's rare to just be in the bone. It…

Scans/Doctors/Surgery
Sounds like there is a lot of all that going on this week. Just wanted to let you all know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers and good vibes. This disease reminds me a little bit of the Army "hurry up and wait." Hurry up and get this over with, but the wait is terribly long. Good luck to you all. Hugs! Kim

Hello My Sweet Semi-Colons:
First, thank each and every one of you for your words of sympathy and love expressed to me upon losing my precious George. The days have gone by in a blurr and it was difficult to stay strong but I did and took care of the necessary. I really had no idea there was so much to do when death occurs but with the help of my…

Rash on scalp
My husband, Steve, just finished his fourth treatment of Folfiri with Avastin. After the third treatment, red pumps developed on his scalp. They look like scabby pimples. They don't bother him. Not itchy. At chemo last Wed the nurse paged the onc. Steve's onc did not see the bumps but based on the nurses description she…

Cancer again invades my life...but it is not me this time
In October my sister had surgery for uterine cancer. They initally set it as Stage 3, but with a chest CT scan this week it has now been classed as Stage 4 with multiple small mets to both lungs. She starts chemo next Friday. As for any Stage 4 cancer, it is to buy her more time not a cure. So now I take on the role of…

As the winter rain sweeps in and falls CEA count rises
Our big rain storm is due this morning, the darkened clouds, the raindrops reminding me of tears from the heavens as the Gods weep in sorrow for us and our sometime misfortunes. Unfortunately I arose at 4:00 AM this morning to find an email waiting for me (I inquire each time via email of my CEA count)while 3 weeks ago the…

After treatment how long to take to get back to feeling "normal"
I was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 2 in August of 2010. It tested high risk for reoccurrence and I had resection and 12 chemo treatments. I handled the chemo as well as can be expected. My last treatment was in 05/2011. I am fortunate as I do not have any signs of reoccurrence. I worked all the way through treatment.…

My wife was diagnosed 5 weeks ago

They never mentioned what stage it is, most likely stage 4 or pretty much anything else. She is on two different chemo treatments, one that makes her sensitive to cold as well as 5/fu pump she…

Does the numbness in feet ever totally go away?
It's been 3 years now since I've had oxiliplatin and my feet feel almost normal. I still get a bit of tingling but most of the time feel pretty normal. I just wondered if it ever totally goes away. I've learned that "it goes away in 6 months" is pure ****, so wondered if it ever totally goes away. In case you are…
