CEA Virtually Undetectable...
Well if you have been following any of my posts... You will recall me advising my CEA was always coming in at a 2.. in the normal range. even when the biopsy and scans reflected cancer. Well today my doc advised the CEA is now virtually undetectable.. So I am having a guarded moment of joy.... She advised this is a good…

update on chemo induced arthritis
Acupuncture and chinese herbs are not cutting into my joint pain. Unfortunately. I truly believe that my joints in my hands, mostly my thumbs, were bathed in chemotherapy, bringing on arthritis. I totally blame this on the chemicals. I have been splinted, pump myself full of advil and chinese herbs every fricken day,…

High Alkaline Phosphatase Levels?
I had a routine appointment at the endocrinologist's office the other day to get a new prescription for my thyroid medication. I had lab work done for the appointment including a Complete Metabolic Panel. Everything was fine on the lab results except for elevated levels of Alkaline Phosphatase--the reference range was…

SO Relieved I'm not the only one!
Hello Everyone! I've just joined this site Nov 4th, and I'm SO relieved to find so many others having the same issues! Which are: Muscle Pain in hips, groin, shoulders, and back but only when I move and use these muscles. If I'm sitting, not moving, I only have pain in my left bicep. I spend an enormous amount of time on…

My George - RIP
Well, it was not to be and my precious husband George Chris Gerges passed away cradled in my arms today like a newborn baby, 10/29/12 at 3:22 p.m. Our hearts are broken and we are totally devastated and lost. You come home knowing it is over and just walk from room to room not knowing what to do, it is heartbreaking,…

"Could a Puff a Day - Keep the Cancer at Bay?"
"High" or Hello With Colorado and Washington ‘legalizing’ marijuana, there have been many articles proliferating the internet discussing its merits. What’s really interesting is that both of these states approached it from the “Recreational” angle, instead of the “Medicinal” avenue, whose dispensaries reside in some of the…

First CT scan post surgery 3 months ago, 6 Folfox treatments
Negative CT scan YaY! Next scan. 3 months, after all 12 Folfox treatments, if I make it through another one. Laying on couch- can't even move, nausea, diarrhea, mouth hurts still. But I am thrilled with results. And my CEA is <0.5. 3 more months of chemo and hopefully years of clean scans. Sandy :)

Thought I'd share today's events...
Today I had surgery to relieve the severe pain/pressure that resulted from my recent double-lumpectomy (2 weeks ago). Because I was requiring daily aspirations of fluid, and still in extreme pain, my surgeon re-opened the incision, drained and irrigated both areas, and placed drains. Of note, I had an attractive, young…

Questions about secondary treatments
When I was 26 (April 2011) I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer that had spread to the liver. I started with Folfox and that worked well until my body developed an allergy to oxaliplatin. Then I switched to Folfiri with Avastin and that didn't work at all. Then I had surgery - I had my colon removed (I have a…

Uninsured
I have been so disappointed the last two days. I was due to go in for my bloodwork and to see my onc for my 3 month visit. After the usual screaming match, over the money needed for these visits, I have decided to never ask my husband to make another medical bill payment on my behalf. I have canceled the appointments…

CT Scan results - more good news
My ctscan 5 months after my lung met was diagnosed (and subsequently surgically removed)from the previous scan was clear - yeah! I was very worried especially when the oncologist didn't call within 48 hours. He finally called me Friday night - he's actually a gem. More good news - I can wait another 6 months until next…

We owe so much to those that have sacrificed so much to allow us to enjoy "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". I'd like to dedicate this thread to honoring our Veterans today. Feel free to post your service, or the service of a loved one. Personally, I flew a desk in the Air Force, in the exotic land known as…

A New Journey Has Begun
I live in Australia and just wanted to introduce myself and write about my cancer diagnosis and treatment. I had a colonoscopy in February 2012 which discovered a large polyp. The polyp was removed during the colonoscopy and biopsy results revealed that it was malignent and I was referred to a colorectal surgeon. It was…

"The BAG"
I recently read something on here about being a "clean person" vs someone who has "a bag." It has stuck in my craw and I want to respond to that line of thinking. I am a clean person, too. And I am an RN, was the ostomy nurse for the home health/hospice agency I worked for for years. And I am the mother of a 33-year-old…

Prayer
Before I start, there is a caveat: this is a religious post. If you're offended by this you are certainly free to click on the back button and not read any farther. I strongly believe that we are all free to our own opinions, but we are not free to force them upon others. I have no desire to offend anyone but only to offer…
