Lymph Nodes
Hello Everyone, I have a ? Actually two. How is it that some of you know that you have cancer in your lymph nodes b/4 surgery? My surgeon said he wouldn't know until surgery. I'm confused. Also, I can't shake this feeling that there's something I'm not being told. It literally keeps me awake sometimes! For instance, I had…

Day 8 of Sue's Rads
Well, here I am again, whether you want me or not. lol I do think, that after tomorrow's post, that I will just post at the end of the week. There are so many more important discussions going on, that I don't want to take up space. And, if you want me to quit altogether, just say so. No problem. It is such a beautiful day…

Surgery tomorrow
Here it is the day before surgery. Whether it's a good thing, my mind is off tomorrow, or a bad thing, it still isn't on work, I am at my desk finishing up all the little things so I can take time off with a clear conscience. Also since I don't have a lot of leave time, I'm making sure I don't use any I don't have to.…

A man and his duck
A man had a duck and one day noticed that something was wrong with the duck. He took his duck to the vet and said "Please look at my duck, something is wrong with him." The vet checked the duck and said "I'm sorry, this duck is dead." The man said "No, it can't be. I'd like another opinion." The vet motioned and a dog came…

Question for K-8 public school teachers
I need to ask you this question as doctors have no idea what a classroom teacher does: they think we are like professors and stand in front of the room and that our duties end when the kids leave for the day or for specials. I am hoping you will give me your opinion as to how “fit” I will be to do all the bending, lifting,…

Not happy, BC gone to bone
Monday I met with the oncologist to go over test results, and plan the course of treatment. Dr is very thorough. He had me have bone scan, ct scan [rather than the PET scan which sort of combines the two?], and a muga test [heart function]. CT scan and muga were good, but the bone scan revealed some lesions. One on the…

new to this site and new diagnosis
I was just diagnosed this week and thought at the worst I'd have radiation and Tamoxifen. My oncolgist told me that it was so spread out that I needed a mastectomy. I was floored! She got me into the plastic surgeon on the same day and boy, my head was swimming. Luckily my boyfriend went with me and though we both cried,…

Morning sickness and Chemo nausea?
I had my 2nd Neulasta shot yesterday and was talking with the nurse about not having had any nausea at all. She asked me if I got sick at my stomach on fair rides - nope - or how bad morning sickness had been - none at all with either boy. She went on to say that from her experiences (not personal but has been dealing with…

One year ago
Sept 8th was the one year anniversary of my mammogram, then second mammogram, then ultrasound, then second ultrasound by the radiologist herself and her proclamation that I needed to have a biopsy and she wanted me to have it within a week. "Gee, doc, do you think it's anything serious?" Well, a year has passed. I've had…

Chicago physicians
Hi I normally post on the caregiver board but was hoping someone on here might be able to help me too. We are looking to get a second opinion from a breast cancer oncologist in the Chicago area. Live downtown but will certainly travel for a good doctor! Any Chicagoans out there who can give me a suggestion? Thank you! tt

Good appt.
Saw Dr. T before I went to chemo today and he is pleased with the results so far (2 weeks). It has definately shrunk some, nipple is not as inverted and he can feel a definate boundary around most of it now, which he couldn't 2 weeks ago. Blood work was good. We talked some about the mass that the PET Scan showed along my…

Bikini Puppy
A shapely lady in a bikini walked into the ocean to take a swim. A large wave came up and washed over her, tearing off her bikini top. She came out of the surf with her arms folded across her chest. Little Johnny, playing in the sand looked up at her and said, "Lady, if you're going to drown those puppies, I'll take the…

Tamoxifen and anti-depressants
For the newbies ... there's been a great deal of discussion lately concerning tamoxifen and anti-depressants being taken together. It seems that the latest research indicates that many (most?) anti-depressants should NOT be taken with tamoxifen because it lessens the effect of tamoxifen. Well... it's "time" for me to start…

Just so you know where I will be!
This weekend is the annual ocean voyage Reggie makes with his Tribe members. It is a voyage done in a traditional Native American plank canoe, about 25'long made of redwood, with 11'long redwood paddles. Reggie is one of the captains of the crew, and this is a spiritual homecoming for members of his Tribe. The homecoming…

I didn't "dodge the bullet" this time
Hello to all my BC sisters. I'm a newbie both with breast cancer and the electronic chatting. Ever since my mother had breast cancer and a double mastectomy over 40 years ago. She survived almost 39 years through a time when women didn't only to succumb to pancreatic cancer at age 79. Since my mid-twenties I have…

Restrictions after mastectomy/reconstruction
Has anyone ever had restrictions upon returning to work after a mastectomy and/or reconstruction? I was told I could not return to work if I had any restrictions at all, like "use a cane" or refrain from lifting x pounds. (I work for the state, so I guess they don't want to worry about workmen's comp should I get injured…

'Ere we go again.....Tamox vs Happy pills..LOL
OK.......I had my appointment with Dr Charisma-Bypass today. I told him I had stopped taking the tamoxifen as I was scared to death by all the bad publicity.. also the interraction with Zoloft (which at the moment is definitely higher up my wish-list) anyway, he told me that he keeps on top of all this stuff and there is…
