Rough Week
Hey Girls, Well, it got me, and last week had been rough. Like I said the first 2 days weren't bad. Oh, but the 3rd was killer. It was like an out of body experience. That was some heavy duty drugs. Besides being nauseas things just didn't seem right. At first thought it was just the nausea pills but it was everything. You…

I Laughed So Much That My Ribs Hurt
I believe in laughter and I believe that laughter heals. I laughed so much that my sides hurt and I had to stop reading many times before I could resume again. I hope that this has same effect on you that it did with me. The story begins as follows: After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips.…

Hi, everyone - Some of us talked a little about this on shortscake's thread earlier in the week, and I thought it might be a fun weekend thread to share some recipes. With the Superbowl this weekend and the Oscars coming up in just a few weeks: Do you have any favorite tv/viewing-party recipes? I'm not into football, but…

Not sure why I'm depressed...
I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction using a TRAM flap on Jan. 19th. The surgery went well, but discovered that the DCIS was actually invasive cancer, grade 2, in a .5cm area. Margins and nodes are clear. So I'm luckier than most. But for some reason, I am focusing on the side effects of the Tamoxifen that I'll…

I have a very good friend that is a court reporter and passed along these funnies. I was actually laughing out loud at work! Enjoy. My Son's Definition for Survivor
My son clarified/defined survivor for me. He told me before I even had my surgery that I was a survivor because I was still alive. Wow, that really impressed me. He feels that anyone who is alive and fighting this beast at whatever place of treatment is a survivor. When I had the surgery, he said mom you are now cancer…

Special shampoo?
I just had a coworker tell me about something called Ovation Cell Therapy. She hasn't tried it herself, but had heard it advertised on the local radio station down here. It supposedly helps regrow hair faster, and they were advertising it as something that might be useful to people who'd had hair loss due to chemo, which…

I too lost a best friend yesterday, my sister Diane Sanders
Such an amazing woman! Such a fighter! She also lost her battle with B/c after being detected 3 1/2 years ago, going through the treatments, into remission, only to have it come back with a vengeance. But she fought each tumor as it arrived, first the lungs, then the brain, both were diminished with radiation because they…

What to do when a "pain" needs to be checked out
For those of us who have battled cancer for a while, and have completed treatment, I wonder just which of your doctors do you contact when you have something that needs to be checked out? If you have pain in your back that persists, do you call your PCP or do you call your onconogist? For those who have developed other…

Ah, the Dutch...my latest adventure:Baking!!!
I am attempting to bake bananna bread here in The Netherlands...now, the first hurdle was to find measuring spoons I could understand...Theelepel and Eetlepel just don't cut it, and most recipes here measure spices and leavening stuff (baking powder, etc) by weight in grams. But, each spice can weight different amounts, so…

Chemo Concerns
Hello...I'm wondering if anyone has had the Taxotere/Cytoxan combination? I had a partial mastectomy Jan. 4 with reconstruction, tumor was 1.5 cm, nearly 100% estrogen receptive, HER2 negative. My doctor has suggested 4 doses of Taxotere/Cytoxan - a dose every 3 weeks, 4 times. I would follow that with radiation and some…
