aromatase inhibitors - managing side effects??
I have undergone surgery, chemo, radaiation, and have one more herceptin infusion in 3 weeks. I was taken off of Tamoxifen because I was unable to tolerate the side effects, specifically the bone and joint pain and stiffness. After recently having my ovary removed (lost the first one at 23) I start Femara in about 2 weeks,…

sleeping difficulties
I am having a great deal of trouble sleeping. I have never been one to fall asleep easily but since diagnosis, I have had such anxiety. My dr gave me antidepressants that seem to have many digestive side effects( I think). Ambian also did not seem to work. My daytime anxiety improved so I was taking xanax only at night. It…

Arimidex - Finally Did It
I was not keen on the idea of taking Arimidex because of its possible side affects. Well, I decided to take it (because I also have the option to stop taking it). Here’s the saga to having it filled. It took 2 weeks after seeing the medical oncology for me to fill the prescription. The first week was devoted to trying to…

health and Wellness
After BC treatment my mind starts to go to health and wellness. Just finally finishing Anticancer. (too sick during treatment to read much). In it he explains about your body terrain. Not one to jump on any bandwagon, but things he says make sense and are food for thought. So what is it that you do to improve your terrain?…

I'm not quite sure what to expect. I already had the lump removed and now I will be starting chemo and radiation. I have been so numb from all of this and really could use some support from other wonderful women with the same. Really scared right now!!

General surgeon or surgical oncologist for lumpectomy?
i was just diagnosed with DCIS with a higly suspicious area for microinvasion. The only surgeons in my area are general. I would think that an oncologist would be able to do a better job...ie making sure they get a large enough area, but not too large...etc. Any recommendations?

Radiation fatigue after one week?!?!
Finished chemo Aug. 24 started rads one week ago. Yesterday and today I am wiped. I'm trying to stay somewhat active but am napping twice a day the last two days. Everything is an effort. I wasn't expecting this kind of fatigue for a few weeks. Has anyone else experienced fatigue so soon into radiation? I feel like a wimp!

Finally Taking a Long-Awaited Trip to Paradise!
My husband and I had a cruise planned for October '09 and holiday travel plans to my mom's in NY that year. Then the bomb dropped--I'm diagnosed with IDC and all travel plans get cancelled :( Well, after fighting this battle all year, I'm done with surgeries, I'm done with chemo, done with rads and we are finally going on…

Another Whammy
I've been careful about sat fats for a long time, limiting my guilty pleasures to only occasionally. Haven't eaten bacon in months, no lunch meats. Careful about the "hidden fats" in so-called healthy foods, etc. I had my regular physical with the primary. Fasting blood work came back with elevated cholesterol. Not…

My sister is losing her battle
I'm new to this board for posting. I have been following some posts. I'm sorry I haven't been a more active participant. My youngest sister has been battling breast cancer for 16 years but now I think the end is near. She's in the hospital now on oxygen and having a hard time breathing. Last night she had a mini stroke so…

tissue expander exchange
I just had my expanders taken out and the implants put in... I don't want to sound ungratful but I am not liking them at all, they are smaller than my own ones and flatter, not much projection. Will they take on a different shape or stay this way? just wondering if anyone else has had this feeling or am I just being silly!

axilllary node dissection
I'm confused about the fact that everyone has a different amount of nodes removed and tested. Are there different amts in the area they take or do they use dye and just take the number they feel are possibly effected? When I scheduled my masectomy for next week the nurse said I would not be going in early for the dye since…

It is with a heavy heart that I come to you, my sisters, today. There are many here that have not had the joy or honor of meeting our Irishwhispers. Sadly they never will. anemia
Hi. Just got my blood checked after round 5 of TAC. As usual my white count was low, but for the first time my red count was low, just above 8. No wonder I'm so damned tired! I have to go back on Wed. to get it checked again, if it goes below 8 I'll have to get a transfusion. For some reason the thought of a transfusion…

Still waiting
My wife is still waiting for the slides to be tested to see if she qualifies for the clinical trial through UCLA. ONC wanted to give her NAVOBEAN, but that would be her 4th line and that would disqualify her automatically, so decided to go with the Ixempra and Zolota package for the next 2 weeks while we wait and there…
