I think I may be in trouble
Last night my lungs started to burn. I didn't have any asthma because they were dry but I still couldn't stop coughing. I was really surprised because I'm still on 50mg of prednisone. I call the onc doc today and he called me back saying I may be reacting to he chemo drugs. He's only seen this happen about 4 times in his…

The diagnostic center.....
How is it that they sent me a letter today reminding me that my mammogram is due now??? And that my last one was 8/5/10 and they have immediate openings. This is the SAME place---for years--- that I had all of my diagnostic mammos, MRI's, and breast ultrasounds.... My mastectomy was in 2008. Maybe they confused me with…

Mastectomy - Blood pressure/blood draws which arm?
Hello beautiful Pink sisters, This has always confused me because I've seen different answers multiple times. I understand that if you had a mastectomy, your blood work/blood pressure checks should be administered on your opposite side of the body. Now with a double mastectomy which side is it done? I know at my cancer…

bra during radiation
I had a left mastectomy in July and will begin radiation for 7 weeks in mid-September. I am currently wearing my post-surgery camisole with the puffy insert. But I go back to my teaching job next week and that camisole is too bulky to wear under nice clothes. I went to the prosthesis-fitting lady who will be helping me…

Yesterday was MY birthday!
I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have another birthday. Yesterday I turned 49. I will hit the 1 year cancerversary on August 24th! I have 2 or 3 Herceptin treatments to go and then will get "deported." Almost done....but will always be here for support and to give any advise I can offer. Bonnie

Chemo before surgery?
I just want to thank everyone who responded so much for the love and support. It meant so much to read the heart-felt advice. I met with the oncologist who was wonderful, and he spent almost 2 hours with my husband and I discussing the proposed treatment. I still need to meet with the surgeon. I will likely have chemo…

OT - out of touch for a while
It seems like the board goes crazy when I go away for a few days and there's a lot to catch up on when I get back. This time I'm not going anywhere but my computer is. It's about 6 1/2 years old (I know, I know, just like the lady on the commercial where they come in and build a computer store in her house. But the monitor…

lymphamatic pump for my arm after breast cancer and lymphadema
I had breast cancer in 1980. I had a radical mastectomy and wear a compression sleeve. I now have a lymphamatic pump for my arm. I have had lymphadema about 5-6 times during the last 20 years. My question is, if I pump my arm every day do I need to wear my compression sleeve? I am wondering if it stays under control and I…

Wine Whine
First, let me preface this with the statement that I'm absolutely not against monies raised to fund breast cancer research. Afterall, I had it and I want a cure found. I do wonder about all the pink stuff being sold and what all the money raised is actually being used for. Second, I'm sick and tired of pink, pink, pink,…

lousy few days
I got through the "bad" weekend pretty well but I have to say that I woke up again today with a fever of over 100. The bronchitis is totally out of control. I can't sleep cause I cough all the time. I fall off my 3 european pillows if I do happen to doze off. Went to see my regular doc today and he put me back on an…

Having a really hard time...
I don't really know how or why, but I'm feeling overwhelmingly anxious, and emotionally sensitive as I come closer to my last radiation appointment on the 15th. I've come through so much and I'm beginning to feel lost and confused. I'm weepy a lot these days, mind you, there are many other things going on in our lives that…

Tamoxifen and hair loss
I have noticed for a while now that whenever I wash my hair a good amount of it comes out of my head. This is about 4-5 times the amount that used to come out. Lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy
Tomorrows the "big" day. I'm stressed, nervous, in some ways angry, and depressed. I am doing some laundry, cleaning off my bedside table, and clearing off the recliner just in case. Fosamax wkly pill vs Reclast annual infusion
BCBS would not approve Reclast for me...unless I could not tolerate the Fosamax weekly pills. It always is about money. So, I have been on Fosamax with usual muscle aches, night sweats, etc. Tolerable...but geez, it would be nice to not have to remember to take the darn extra pill each Sunday. So, my insurance changes next…
