radiation question
I am thinking of not moving forward with the radiation treatments because of the cost. I am already reeling from the medical bills for chemo and haven't got the bill yet for the surgery. My question is this: Is it a possibility to skip radiation? I had chemo then a lumpectomy. As soon as I heal they want me to start…

Colonoscopy...please keep me in your thoughts and prayers
I had my colonoscopy this am. All went well but there is an inflamed area that my gastroenterologist sent for biopsy. I am a little nervous because 1) my CEA has stayed high (16.5) while my Ca27.29 has normalized and 2) I have had gut issues this year with the infection and still a tendency toward loose stools (definitely…

Need some Pink Ladies Wisdom!
Hi there! Earlier this year, at the age of 42, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Soon after I started 4 rounds of a chemo called Ixempra along with a clinical trial which included Cetuximab. The Cetuximab provided energy and helped counteract the fatigue to a large degree, it also gave me a terrible acne…

A weird question
I have a weird question that I'm hoping someone knows something about. Ever since my chemo, when I break a sweat, it stings like getting in the ocean with raw skin. Tiny little needles pricking me. Really uncomfortable and interferes with my wanting to exercise. Has anyone else had this?

Arimidex
Hi ladies well I opened the other door today. Today was my first day of taking arimidex. I had no idea that it costs so much. It was $324.99 for a 30 day. Thank God I have insurance that covers it. I just hope they cover it for the 5 years that I have to take it. I will keep everyone posted on how I am feeling. Thanks…

Abbreviations --- for our New Sisters in PINK :)
*Please note: There can be multiple meanings for some abbreviations in medicine. In medical notes, you often have to look at the context. With some abbreviations, it can be difficult. My List is meant to be used as a reference only: AC - one of the five most common types of chemo given to women with BC. It's probably the…

PET Scan Friday
I had a PET scan in January 2010 just after my mastectomy and before I began treatment. This Friday I am going to have another. I have been having lots of pain in my scalp since last Novemeber. They told me I have to eat a high protein diet/low carb the day before. I don't remember that the last time I had the test. Do you…

How did you handle the first look after the bandages come off?
I have to take them off today and see my "new normal" for the first time. Am I going to need an Ativan? I am still in pain, but taking the Percoset. I guess it all can be forgotten with bandages snugly in the bra, but it will be a reality soon, so I am trying to prepare myself. How did you all face the first look?

Curly Hair
Has anyone else experienced having their hair grow back super curly after chemo? My hair is so curly and I have never had curly hair in my life. I like it, it's cute, still short. My question is if any of you have any suggestions on hair products for short chemo curls. I keep going back and forth trying mousse, gels,…

Help remembering names of Spirit Sisters again please.
Once again, I'm asking for help remembering the 'Names' of our Spirit Sisters. Every 6 months, I ask and always swear to myself I will never forget any name again but alas I do forget - I can visualize each but the name evades me and I feel so bad. The only ones that come to mind as I write are Moopy, MamaG, and…

Mammo shows something, ultrasound nothing
I had a 6 month follow-up mammogram last week since the prior mammo showed what they thought was scar tissue from a prior biopsy (which was a fibroid). The new mammo shows a "well circumscribed bilobed lesion measuring 9x10x9 mm", and not anywhere near the marker from the biopsy. The radiologist called me in for an…

OT Oh My God, I just discovered Hungry Girl Recieps and they are yummy
I ordered the cookbook "300 Recieps for Under 300 Calories". So far I have tried 2 of them. I modified the first one some because she uses a lot of Shirataki noodles in her recieps and I don't think I can do the tofu stuff. I made sort of a Pasta Alfredo. I used Dreamfields penne pasta instead of the Shirataki noodles. I…

New to this board with questions...***Updated***
While I generally hang out at the colon and peritoneal cancer boards (as an appendix cancer survivor) I'm now in need of your help and information. OT Mammo Question for Men with BC
I work in the mammo department. I often am asked how many men get mammograms? Personally I have done mammo's on only 6 men since 2006. Only 2 had lumps the others just had swelling so the result was just Gynomastia. Of the 2 with lumps only one had BC. Since 2006, I have done roughly 15,000 mammograms. If 1/8 women had BC,…
