Please, List Your Side Effects - Taxol
I would so very much appreciate it that those of you who did Taxol as a solo drug to list your side effects. Abraxane is out (for now). I did call the oncologist office and the nurse return my phone call with the message about insurance. Every time I think about my decision, I think it might be easier to slide out, then I…

aromatase inhibitors and kinesthetic sense
I have tried Femara, Arimidex, and Aromasin. After a few days of aromasin I started having problems with being "clumsy" just barely "grazing" things as I reach for them, or dragging my foot just a tad as I walk. My OC has said to take a break and cleanse my body, then try Tamoxifen. I have tested negative for MS, Lupus,…

LE and future surgeries
I was in the ER recently for appendicitis and was treated horribly.I arrived at the ER at 9 pm. Finally got a diagnoses of appendicitis at 3:30 am. I was told that I would have surgery around 7 am. The surgeon, however, was a pompous ****. He was the surgeon on call, but chose to see all his morning patients before my…

can you get chemobrain without chemo?
It has been a long haul, over a year and a half, with 7 surgeries. Ever since my diagnosis, this cloud has come over my mind. It has been with me, but is getting better. Memory, decisions, just the most basic things have become difficult. I figure it is because the mental burden of bc, all the drugs, tons of anesthesia.…

Arimidex after Tamoxifan When Unknown if I am Post-Menapausal
Hello everyone. Haven't been here for a long time. As crazy as it sounds, it can't be determined if I am post-menapausal in my bloodwork (borderline results). I have experienced chemo induced menapause for 5 years now. Doctors aren't sure if I will get my cycle back when I end the tamoxifan in 6 months. I have been on it…

In the News this AM: Alcohol: No safe threshold
Just published in American Journal of Public Health: "Objectives. Our goal was to provide current estimates of alcohol-attributable cancer mortality and years of potential life lost (YPLL) in the United States. Methods. We used 2 methods to calculate population-attributable fractions. We based relative risks on…

Please read: take your oral meds carefully and one at a time
Very rough day at work yesterday. One of my nurses, Sue, while laughing and talking during lunch, downed 4 pills at once. She aspirated one. It was frightening. She could talk but couldn't quit coughing. She was sweating and grey. She could still talk and breathe, but was in terrible pain. Being a nurse, we practically had…

CT Scan or Mammo
I mentioned to the tech yesterday while having my mammo (everything is good) that I couldn't understand why I needed to have since I had a CT scan done in December. Just back from Savannah
I had such a wonderful time. Savannah is a truly lovely city built around 24 small parks (22 are still there). The homes are very similar to the Garden District in New Orleans. I love all of the live oak trees with moss. My serious birder cousin took us on a boat trip off Tybee Island and it was a glorious day! So nice to…

When did your grieving start?
This was a question asked by a male member, about 70, in my in person support group. Almost everyone looked at him like what are you talking about. The facilitator jumped in with "when your loved on passes". I said that I think he means for us! Then the man said he has gone through all these emotions that fit the 5 stages…
