Explanation of what NED means... :)
I have noticed that some of the newbies don't seem to know what NED means. I didn't until someone told me. So, just so you know, NED is a good thing! NED means No Evidence of Disease! We usually post it after a check up of some kind or a test to let everyone know that they didn't find anything. ( no more cancer or suspicious cells ) So, we post that we are dancing with NED or NED visited us. Stuff like that. Before I knew what NED was, I just kept thinking " Man, that dude really gets around. And, what the heck does he do and why does he visit so many?" LOL Hope this informed some of you.
Wishing everyone a LIFETIME with NED!

Not Used By The Medical Profession
Noel,
As long as they understand that NED is not used by the medical profession. I did ask my oncology nurse once if the use the term NED. She said, "no, but knew what I meant".
We use it as well as the stable boy, but if I said that at the cancer center, they would think I'm NUTS.
I doubt that I will ever meet up with NED again, the best is the stable boy. Sometimes he is just as fickle.
Best,
Doris

Noel, thanks for your post! Besides not knowing what NED meant when I first joined the site, I didn't know what all the dancing with him was about. lol I know, silly me!
Now, I absolutely love to see my pinkies dancing with NED and I think it is the perfect term to use!

I think most of us hear the Nothing Has Changed from the techs after our mammo's and ultrasounds. But, I always love to log in here and see who NED has on the dance floor swinging around to some happy music in celebration of good results! It makes our good news all that much better!
Let's keep NED dancing and let's keep passing him around! LOL

Didn't know who Ned was either....
Was so happy when I learned who he is. Wish we all could dance with Ned forever. I to come on here to see who Ned is with today. I don't usually post as much as I do read. Thank You for bringing it up again as newbies will be happy to meet Ned one day also.
Thoughts and Prayers with All,

I'll take NED, nothing has changed, it looks good, whatever they want to say as long as it is good news! I think they told me that everything looked the same.
I've just always been so happy that I get my results right then and don't have to wait.
Good post Noel!

How sweet of you Noel to put the explanation on here for the newbies. I am also one of the ones that just went along with it
for a long time until someone like you explained it.

NED has been dancing with me and I pray and hope he will continue forever with everyone! I think it is great that we have a term to use that also makes us all smile when we all put our dancing shoes on and do the dance!

Someday, I hope that 100% of all women and men who will say, I'm ... or .... or .... for breast cancer.
NED, (No Evidence of Disease), NEAD, (No Evidence of Active Disease), NERT ("No Evidence of Recurrent Tumor,"). That will be the day we all will truly celebrate.
The old pink bus will be retired and forgotten.
Best,
Doris
PS: I was hoping to insert the old pink bus but was unable to change it from a TIFF to a Jpeg.

I always pray for NED for all of us! I know that every time we go for any test, that we are so
nervous and apprehensive waiting to hear that everything is alright.
I've always loved the "Dancing with NED" on here!
And, even some of these silly pinkies, me included, do the "Happy Dance with NED" in naked!
I look forward to many, many " Naked Dancing With NED" for everyone!

If you want to read about the "Pink Bus" click on my name SIROD, it will take you to a page, then click under Expression.
My old bc support forum began using the "Pink Bus" back in 2001, though some have claimed to have started the Pink Bus on other breast cancer support sites. None can show that it dates back to 2001. Since it was printed in a booklet which you can find and read online, we might have been the first to use the Pink Bus. There is a possibility that the originator found it on another web page back then, but all my searching hasn't come up with it.
The support forum lost it's funding and are now on Facebook. They don't realize that the bus is still going strongly. They believed that it needed to be taken out of the junk yard before using it two weeks ago. Unfortunately, the bus is still needed, until there is a cure. There is a photo which shows how they perceive it. Only two of us from that group are now stage IV.
How I wish that the bus really looked like that one.
Best to you Sharon as you struggle onward in this journey,
Doris
