It starts up on Friday morning, when we go to the market in town. This is a working market...stalls for everything from fruits and vegies, cheese and meats, fish, baked goods to…

Four-Wheel Drive Pink Bus Available?
I'm supposed to have my final round of chemo on Friday. They're calling for a winter storm here Tuesday into Wednesday that could lead to significant amounts of snow. I am so worried that I will not make it to my oncologist for labs on Thursday and that they will delay my chemo session on Friday. Anyone have a pink bus…

hysteroscopy
After many visits to the Dr, PCP, PS, OBGYN, finally someone did the US and found a chestnut sized polyp or fibroid indside my uterus. That would explain all the bloodloss, and why I am feeling so bad lately. I have been telling them about this for 3 years now. Last month, my bleeding was so heavy, I can barely tolerate…

Hello all! It has been a very long time since I have posted, although I do periodically check in to read what is new. Today I am posting because about a week ago I stumbled upon an article to support the Breast Cancer Patient Act. This is a petition that will head to our US government leaders asking them to pass an act…

I can't believe that they need a cat scan every 3 months, when my counts all went down cat scans are all looking good. Could…

The FDA just approved the new treatment for about 20% of breast cancer patients who have a particular form of the disease that overproduces the protein HER-2. UPDATE Would like the bus today in like 2 hours! Laugh-short notice???
It was the chemo, insurance denied it! I am on the fence for her2 and even though I have been on it for 16 months, Insurance said because the biopsy showed inconclusive in 2010 as far as -/+ they would not approve, and I can no longer get herceptin, even though that is what is believed to have kept me here this long. It…

Latissumus flap questions...surgery scheduled
Hi,I am new on this site although I am 5 years out from my diagnosis of DCIS. I had 2 lumpectomies in the same spot which have left me uneven, followed by radiation. I learned insurance will pay to make women even after breast cancer surgery. I have seen a plastic surgeon who wants to do a latissimus flap, and although I…

Questions to Ask at Follow-up Appointments
It would seem that I should know, but I was wondering what types of questions do you go prepared to ask your oncologist when you have follow-up appointments? I have just begun the three-month cycle. This time I did not have to have any tests ahead of time; next time, I will have to have had blood work and a CT scan. What…

2 Word/Last Word Game
Another word game from the past. 2 words that go 'together' and then the last word is used to form 2 more words that 'go together'. EXamples - Sunny Day could become Day Time which could become Time Out could become Out Alone - so many possibilities. So to start - one of my favorite 2 word sayings - Power Within

My personal breast cancer blog - The pink demolition derby.
When I had my mammo and was called back for the ultra sound, I searched everywhere for somebody's "detailed step-by-step" story because for some reason I wanted to "match" my feelings with theirs, crazy as it sounds. Anyway...I started a blog in the event I was diagnosed with B.C. I knew in my heart, that someday it might…

Latissimus Flap Surgery...what should I expect?
Hi, I'm new to this site although it's been almost 6 years since I was diagnosed with DCIS. I had 2 lumpectomies in the summer of 2007, which made little me littler. I was an almost B cup. Sooo....at my 5 year appointment with my surgeon I asked if I was a candidate for breast reconstruction and of course he said "yes". He…

Changing meds..... have taken Arimidex for 2 yrs. and now going to try Femura
Has anyone switched breast cancer meds? I"m going from Arimidex to Femura... hoping that my joint pain is reduced. My DR said that some women have good results with Femura - so I thought I'd…

Well Dawne got the results of the PET yesterday. It was not what we had wanted to hear. The cancer between her lungs has grown again. Thinking and Missing ChenHeart tonight
Sending well wishes for our dear Chen. I miss her so much! I remember when I was a newbie here and reading her "Welcome to Hogwarts." It so perfectly captured how I was feeling. I wish there was something I could do to ease her way and help her heal. This horrible disease makes us so helpless sometimes. But Chen, please…

Starting the new chemo for her 2+
As of yesterday (appt w/onco), I am starting the new chemo drug just released for her2 +, CADCYLA. Even with all of the black box warnings, we have decided to try it. The upped dose of Fentanyl has not had much effect with the pain in my back, ribs, legs etc. as it continues to increase. WE are hoping that this will…
