Questions to Ask at Follow-up Appointments
It would seem that I should know, but I was wondering what types of questions do you go prepared to ask your oncologist when you have follow-up appointments? I have just begun the three-month cycle. This time I did not have to have any tests ahead of time; next time, I will have to have had blood work and a CT scan. What…

Painful sores on feet after #7 Taxol
I've had some painful sores show up on my feet after my #7 Paclitaxel infusion (Taxol) I wonder if that means I'm done with Taxol? I'm sure they'll tell me on Monday, but meanwhile, I was wondering if any of you had had that problem?

2 Word/Last Word Game
Another word game from the past. 2 words that go 'together' and then the last word is used to form 2 more words that 'go together'. EXamples - Sunny Day could become Day Time which could become Time Out could become Out Alone - so many possibilities. So to start - one of my favorite 2 word sayings - Power Within

It almost feels like its being pulled to one side sometimes. I have been stretching as prescribed by my PS and do feel a little bit of a difference. Will this…

My personal breast cancer blog - The pink demolition derby.
When I had my mammo and was called back for the ultra sound, I searched everywhere for somebody's "detailed step-by-step" story because for some reason I wanted to "match" my feelings with theirs, crazy as it sounds. Anyway...I started a blog in the event I was diagnosed with B.C. I knew in my heart, that someday it might…

Latissimus Flap Surgery...what should I expect?
Hi, I'm new to this site although it's been almost 6 years since I was diagnosed with DCIS. I had 2 lumpectomies in the summer of 2007, which made little me littler. I was an almost B cup. Sooo....at my 5 year appointment with my surgeon I asked if I was a candidate for breast reconstruction and of course he said "yes". He…

Changing meds..... have taken Arimidex for 2 yrs. and now going to try Femura
Has anyone switched breast cancer meds? I"m going from Arimidex to Femura... hoping that my joint pain is reduced. I have one finger that can not bend at the knuckle, and now my other hand is really bothering me- very stiff in the AM and at night. My DR said that some women have good results with Femura - so I thought I'd…

Still in pain 1 year after bi-lateral mastectomy & reconstruction
I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy in Feb. of 2012 followed by reconstruction with saline implants. All went well but the pain I continue to have is getting to be too much. Constant tightness and heaviness in my chest and difficulty sleeping in bed for…

Texasgirl10 PET results
Well Dawne got the results of the PET yesterday. It was not what we had wanted to hear. The cancer between her lungs has grown again. Her last scan had shown it getting a little smaller but, it had grown this time. The good new is that it has NOT spread anywhere else. That is good!! She does have gall stones, and the Dr…

Thinking and Missing ChenHeart tonight
Sending well wishes for our dear Chen. I miss her so much! I remember when I was a newbie here and reading her "Welcome to Hogwarts." It so perfectly captured how I was feeling. I wish there was something I could do to ease her way and help her heal. This horrible disease makes us so helpless sometimes. But Chen, please…

Starting the new chemo for her 2+
As of yesterday (appt w/onco), I am starting the new chemo drug just released for her2 +, CADCYLA. Even with all of the black box warnings, we have decided to try it. The upped dose of Fentanyl has not had much effect with the pain in my back, ribs, legs etc. as it continues to increase. WE are hoping that this will…

double mastect -- dcis
I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ in July. I have had two excisions(lumpectomies) and they have not been able to get clean margins. My surgeon was willing to try a third surgery, but I decided it was time to do more research. My DCIS is multifocal, low grade. Three additional surgeons have said that they…

Biopsy scheduled
After a mammogram and ultra sound, I have a biopsy scheduled next Tuesday for 3 lumps/masses in my left breast. They are described as "abnormal" (?) about 1cm in size. The initial report to my doctor noted that it does not "look like" breast cancer... but says they are not calicifications or cycsts. I'm not quite sure what…

???? How Did You Get Your Real Name and/or How Did You Pick Your Name On Here ????
I've always loved hearing how people got their names. Some of the stories of why their parents named them are meaningful, some are emotional and some are like " what were their parents smoking"? LOL And, I've always loved seeing the different names on here and wondered how you came up with them and why. So, why did your…

For rjporter: We're here if you need us
For rjporter: I replied to your post earlier this morning where you shared some difficulties and sadness in your life, but it looks like either you deleted your post just as I was replying, or perhaps there was a technical snafu of some kind, because I don't see your post anywhere now. I just wanted you to know that the…

Explanation of what NED means... :)
I have noticed that some of the newbies don't seem to know what NED means. I didn't until someone told me. So, just so you know, NED is a good thing! NED means No Evidence of Disease! We usually post it after a check up of some kind or a test to let everyone know that they didn't find anything. ( no more cancer or…

NED Has Changed to NEAD
I read this on Inspire a little while ago: I have been confused about NED and its meaning. Nothing lit up on my last Pet scan - but my liver tumor, which has shrunk by 60%, was still noted on the radiology report. So when I attend a Stage IV News seminar this week I asked on of the presenting oncologists to clarify the…

How do you cope with a single mastectomy
I am now two weeks post op from my left sided single mastectomy. Today I tried to go out wearing a sports bra and a soft fiberfill form. I was so miserable, that I ended up removing both in the car. It was so uncomfortable and sore having it next to my skin. Will I always go bra-less with a uni-boob? Looks kind of wierd,…
