Please read: take your oral meds carefully and one at a time
Very rough day at work yesterday. One of my nurses, Sue, while laughing and talking during lunch, downed 4 pills at once. She aspirated one. It was frightening. She could talk but couldn't quit coughing. She was sweating and grey. She could still talk and breathe, but was in terrible pain. Being a nurse, we practically had…

This journey with bc is difficult and long. We all started with the initial diagnosis of bc, had surgery's, taken chemo and rads and some are on hormone therapy. Be it good or bad, what have you learned? About yourself, your friends, your family, your job, or just plain about life now? Thanks!

CT Scan or Mammo
I mentioned to the tech yesterday while having my mammo (everything is good) that I couldn't understand why I needed to have since I had a CT scan done in December. She said "A mammo. ultrasound or MRI are the tests that find tumors. CT scans are for finding tumors or other suspicious spots in other organs, not the…

Just back from Savannah
I had such a wonderful time. Savannah is a truly lovely city built around 24 small parks (22 are still there). The homes are very similar to the Garden District in New Orleans. I love all of the live oak trees with moss. My serious birder cousin took us on a boat trip off Tybee Island and it was a glorious day! So nice to…

When did your grieving start?
This was a question asked by a male member, about 70, in my in person support group. Almost everyone looked at him like what are you talking about. The facilitator jumped in with "when your loved on passes". I said that I think he means for us! Then the man said he has gone through all these emotions that fit the 5 stages…

I Need a Pink Diva Bus
I am asking for a Pink Bus. I have a breast MRI scheduled for Mon, 2/18. I've had MRI's before, but, as you all know, these tests can be so nerve wracking. I am going to the imaging center where I heard those awful words, " You have cancer." I am going to hold my head up high and take care of business. I wouldn't mind a…

pain after tram flap
I had tram flap surgery in October. Everything seems to have healed fine, but in the past couple weeks, I have a severe pain to the right and just above my belly button. It hurts to raise my arms to wash my hair, hang clothes up, put dishes away, etc. I can't lay flat on my back anymore. There are some mornings I wake up…

NED!! (Doris, you rock, thanks for the advice)
Finally, got my email from the imaging center. They never say NED, just no suspicious findings. But yay, however they want to say it, I'll take it. And thank you, thank you, Doris, for the advice. I know this because I got my very own email from the imaging center just like Doris said, and I'm reading my own report. My…

Good Article To Read if Your Stage IV
Let's hope that "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray" in this case don't. It is an old article about 5 months old but someone reminded me of it lately and I thought I would post it. It came from the New York Times in September. Seeking Cures, Patients Enlist Mice Stand-Ins By Andrew Pollack BALTIMORE —…

Did everyone get a flu shot?
My husband got one, but, I didn't as the last time I got one, I got the flu, literally, within a few hours. I know they say you can't get it from the flu shot, but, I did or else it was the strangest coincidence ever. The news makes it sounds so bad so I am struggling if I should chance getting the shot. Thanks, Angie

BC took my confidence
I try to be postive, but have been having a hardtime lately. All my Dr's say the the bc is gone (with extensvie surgeries), and everyone around me stresses the importance of a good attitude. I can feel my strength coming back. I took a PT sales job and am having a hard time being 'myself" because I have changed. I am…

I was a lot more nervous…
