Has something like this ever happen to you?
I got done with my AM rounds of TX. We went to a local diner afterwards for breakfast. A sweet older couple sat near us. The lovely lady (mind you, she's wearing a pink t-neck), saw me, had a sad look, and started to sob. Bless her heart. I just want to go over to her and hug her to reassure HER that I'm ok. Maybe she's a…

Just checking in...
I'm not sure the last time I was on here but it's been quite a while...almost a year. Checked for the status of some very inspirational women on here, 1 has passed and 1 is still fighting. I'm 2 1/2 years out from my original diagnosis in September 2010 and almost 2 full years from last treatment. So far, tests are showing…

FDA Approves Lymphoseek
I thought that the pink sisters and brothers might be interested in this information. It is always good to know that research is moving forward. On March 13th the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Lymphoseek (technetium Tc 99m tilmanocept) Injection, a radioactive diagnostic imaging agent that helps doctors locate…

A little funny
Mother was out, and dad was in charge. Their daughter was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given her a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of her favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when she brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and…

Tamoxifen & severe hip pain
I am nearing the one year mark of the cancer diagnosis. Following a masectomy and 6 rounds of chemo,( taxotere and cytoxan followed by Neulasta injections), I am left with incredible bone pain. I think it's entirely possible that the pain is from the Tamoxifen. The worst pain is in my hip, although I've been told it's…

I am new to this board and having long term side effects.
Hi. I've been reading and everyone seems so nice. I'm having problems with a long term side effect from radiation that was done 7 months ago. I developed "radiation Pneumonitis" in my right lung where radiation was done for breast cancer. I got it around Christmas and it is better but not gone. So I can't have the rest of…

Fluid build up, swollen, about to see Oncologist for 1st time
I had a modified radical mastectomy on the 26th of Feb. Since the drainage tubes (2) were removed, a lot of fluid has built up under my arm and sutures. It's almost like my breast is trying to regenerate myself! I have contacted the surgeon, who says if it is not red, warm, painful or showing signs of infection then not to…

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!
My first time with chemo, I didn't loose my hair. I prepared as advisedto do by my chemo nurse. I had a wig, a turban for sleep, shampoo and and a stand for my wig. I cut my hair short as recommended by my hairdresser and then nothing happened. My hair didn't grow but it didn't come out either. For 6 months, it remained…

Does anyone take glucosamine and chondroitin for pain?
I have had some back pain lately and a friend swears by glucosamine with chondroitin. Have any of you ever used it or tried it? Did it help? I haven't mentioned this to my doctor yet, as, I just wanted to see if anyone here has used it and what your results were. She said I could just buy it over the counter at the drug…

Mortified!!
Did I mention that I am not the only insane person? My relatives have really, seriously gone insane. Apparently, my little nephew has taken up a collection on FACEBOOK (OMG) for a juicer. Did he ask me if I wanted one? Of course not until he started this mess. Did I mention I already own a juicer? Sigh.... Please shoot me…

Musings on a Cloudy Day...Mental Health
Listening to many here has made me so very aware that there needs to be a new diagnosis for the mental health issues that so many of us suffer. PTSD just doesn't cut it, in my opinion, because the stressors unique to a cancer survivor are not necessarily POST anything. I am living proof here. And I know I am mental now.…

♥ What Makes You Smile Or Makes You Happy? ♥
There are so many things that I know make all of you smile, a baby's laughter, your grandchildren, your husband, a vacation, a promotion, the trees turning beautiful colors in the Fall, a plate full of french fries, a good bottle of wine, the first blue birds arriving in the Spring, NED, your 1st flowers blooming in your…

◕ ‿ ◕ Your HAHA For Today ◕ ‿ ◕
A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlor and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool... After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split. The waitress asked kindly, 'Crushed nuts?' 'No,' he replied, 'Arthritis.' ♥Love, Susie ♥

Valerie Harper
For those of you who remember the sitcom "Rhoda" in the 1970's . You might want to read the article on Valerie Harper which was sent to me by the MBCN. Valerie as many of you might have heard has lung cancer (never was a smoker either) and the cancer in 2012 spread. Now she has what is known leptomenigeal carcinoma. It's…

Capsular Contracture
Its been one year since I had a bi-lateral mastectomy with reconstruction with expanders and then saline implants. Now I've been diagnosed with capsular contracture and am being told that I only have two options - go to a pain management doctor and try to deal with the pain or just have the implants removed for good. I've…

Chemo is OVER
Happy news. I finished my four rounds of TC Chemo. Here's a recap of my day: As any cancer patient would do, I woke up, drank five glasses of water, and got ready for my big day. I wore a pair of Wonder Woman socks, complete with capes; comfy yoga pants; a Warrior in Pink tank top; a hoodie; and, of course, a pink wig and…

Me Myself and ER *NEWS*
So I had the xray yesterday. My primary doctor called and said I need to see the pulmonologist (at the very least). A new opacity is found in the right side lung as compared to the last xray (in September). She said it can't be pneumonia because I don't have fever and chills or overall sickly feelings. Her thoughts were…

UTI Question?
I had a very slight temperature for chemo (Taxol) and it was slight. The next day it started to rise and though in the real world, I would have dismissed it with two Tylenols, not the case in the chemo world. I was told to call if my temperature ever went to 100.4, I called at 100.6 after taking a couple of Tylenols. The…

I have to decide lumpectomy or mastectomy and am loss
Started at a 5 cm tumor left breast. 16 weeks chemo and it is 2.5cm but MRI cannot tell if spots around the original footprint are scar tissue or cancer cells. Doc says I can try a lumpectomy and if the pathology comes back positive would then have to have a mastectomy. I have to have radiation either way, and a lumpectomy…

231 new liver lesions, but who's counting anyway?!
Here are PET scan results: 231 numerous new hyperbolic lesions throughout the liver compatible with metastatic disease. There are two hypermetabolic foci either in or adjacent to the pancreas. CT abdomen and pelvis with IV contrast recommended. Not the news we were hoping for. But, if I need to find something to laugh…
