Taxoter & Cytoxan Second Round Today
Today is my Second Treatment of Taxoter & Cytoxan! Hopefully it goes the same as the First round. I can handle it if it's the same and it helps now that I know what to expect. I did lose my hair on Day 16 after First Treatment, it was coming out so bad that I just got a buzz hair cut. My hairdresser was almost in tears so…

Anastrozole (arimidex) side effects can be managed
I have been taking anastrozole for 14 months now. I did not want to take it because of the posts about all the side effects. I have had a few, but honestly, I do not know if they are caused by the drug. I do have knee and hip pain at times. I also have gained weight, but I have gained weight before I ever took drugs and I…

We can all use a few laughs, so here you go
Being correct in 2013 Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America , Kentuckians, Tennesseans and West Virginians will no longer be referred to as 'HILLBILLIES.' You must now refer to them as APPALACHIAN-AMERICANS. And furthermore... HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT WOMEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT: 1. She is not a…

Want Your Opinion -- Treatment by Guideline?
Dear all, At last week's visit with my med. oncologist prior to my last chemo session, I asked her about follow-up care. I had Stage 1, Nuclear Grade 2, Invasive Lobular Carcinoma with no spread to nodes. I did four rounds of T/C chemo. I had a lumpectomy, followed by a double mastectomy, which yielded wide and clear…

Adriamycin is kicking my butt!
I knew it wouldn't be easy. However, I thought that getting it weekly it might be kinder. I had my 2nd push on Thursday, was so hyped from the Decadron on Thursday and Friday that I went from 8a to midnight and had to take Ativan to relax and sleep. Woke up Saturday morning saw everyone off, and couldn't wait to crawl back…

Lymph edema in mastectomy site
i have about 300 to 400cc of fluid in my mastectomy site. I call it my "booblet". The surgeon said it should resolve on its own bit may take up to a whole year. I could have it drained, but this would probably need to be repeated 3-4 times. Since I am having no pain,I decided to wait and try some PT instead. I also had…

Surgery is Scheduled
I have been scheduled for surgery on the 21st. All chemo is done for now. They will do a mastectomy and a lymphectomy on the right side. The surgeon said the lymphectomy is for insurance. The cancer was barely detectable in the lymph nodes and it is gone now, however, they are coming out just to be sure. She also wanted…

Has something like this ever happen to you?
I got done with my AM rounds of TX. We went to a local diner afterwards for breakfast. A sweet older couple sat near us. The lovely lady (mind you, she's wearing a pink t-neck), saw me, had a sad look, and started to sob. Bless her heart. I just want to go over to her and hug her to reassure HER that I'm ok. Maybe she's a…

A little funny
Mother was out, and dad was in charge. Their daughter was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given her a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of her favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when she brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and…

Tamoxifen & severe hip pain
I am nearing the one year mark of the cancer diagnosis. Following a masectomy and 6 rounds of chemo,( taxotere and cytoxan followed by Neulasta injections), I am left with incredible bone pain. I think it's entirely possible that the pain is from the Tamoxifen. The worst pain is in my hip, although I've been told it's…

I am new to this board and having long term side effects.
Hi. I've been reading and everyone seems so nice. I'm having problems with a long term side effect from radiation that was done 7 months ago. I developed "radiation Pneumonitis" in my right lung where radiation was done for breast cancer. I got it around Christmas and it is better but not gone. So I can't have the rest of…

I had a modified radical mastectomy on the 26th of Feb. Since the drainage tubes (2) were removed, a lot of fluid has built up under my arm and sutures. My first time with chemo, I didn't loose my hair. I prepared as advisedto do by my chemo nurse. I had a wig, a turban for sleep, shampoo and and a stand for my wig. I cut my hair short as recommended by my hairdresser and then nothing happened. My hair didn't grow but it didn't come out either. For 6 months, it remained…
