Today's Race
Many of you sent me good wishes for my 15k race today, so I thought I would let you know how it went. I was going to just post it on the other thread where it was mentioned, but I don't remember which thread that was on (old age--LOL!). It was a rainy, blustery day with temps in the mid-50's. Yuk! However, my partner and I…

Obgyn tells me I need to see GI ASAP.
Hi, I have been having anal itching for a while now atleast a year. I have had a couple of growths in my anus that I thought were hemmoroids After having my baby. Two years ago when I saw my obgyn she said hemorroids r normal after having kids so I didn't take it seriously and neither did she because she didn't actually…

Sore & Weak Muscles
Just wondering if others experience muscle soreness and weakness in their thigh and buttock muscles and if so what has helped with this issue? I assume this is all radiation related because I never had this before treatments. Yesterday I was doing some planting in my shade garden, which of course entails getting up and…

pain and hemmorroids
I'he been done with treatment for 2 weeks. My burns are healing really in most areas. Almost completely better on the front area. My problem is the anal pain and external hemmorrhoids. BMs are still excruciating and the hemmorrhoids are very swollen and really painful. I assume the hemmorrhoids got badly burned from…

Skin breaking out
My husband had his last radiation treatment on Wed. There seems to be a new added feature to the tender areas, where he is getting pimples and some are large and under the skin, (but small head on them). Just wondering if anyone else had this happen, they are in the front as well on the rear.

Dr ending treatments 2 days early!
After the visit today, the dr's decided they had tortured him enough, and tomorrow will be the last radiation treatment. I was so happy I cried! She said they are well within the parameters of treatment, and the other 2 treatments left wouldn't make a difference. I suppose after looking at him again, and seeing how badly…

New (sorta) to site too
I say I'm new, but have been lurking for a while! My husband has been undergoing treatment for a while. We are finished with the chemo, and the picc line was removed on Monday. Thank God for small victories! We are, however, really struggling with the side effects of the radiation (7 more to go). And although I have read a…

second round of chemo question
Hi--- How many people who had a relatively manageable (symptom-free) time with the first round of chemo had a difficult time with the second round? How many people had a (relatively) easy time with both? Thanks.

I had to smile.....
So after church today I was visiting with a friend who has recently moved back to th area and I had not been in contact with since first diagnosed. She is kind and sensitive and had a lot going on in her own life. Somehow (because someone else she knows is getting radiation for cervical cancer), we got on the subject of…

I have been very sick, weak and burnt. I have spent many hours pouring over this website for reassurance. I have not lost any hair on my…

I had my follow up colonoscopy today
I had my colonoscopy done today for the anal cancer to see if the treatments worked. The dr said the tumor is gone and only scar tissue is left. So he took a biopsy of the scar tissue. I won't know the results until next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all is ok. The CT scan didn't show any cancer. Hopefully this…

The healing process
Hi everyone! I'm 4 months post treatment. My CT scan showed no cancer. YAY! I am going for a sigmoidoscopy this coming Tuesday and I am trying real hard not to freak out. I was told the reason for the sigmoidoscopy is because the CT scan doesn't show everything. Well, when I have a bowel movement it is starting to hurt on…

Sex after cancer treatment
I have been doing the vaginal dialator for about 2 week now. I do this everyday. My radiation onc gave me one and I seem to be doing a lot better. So, my boyfriend and I tried to have sex and it was extremely painful. Now I'm afraid to have sex again. My radiation onc told me to grin and bear it until I get use to it. Easy…

Grocery stores
I am just back from a trip to my local grocery store, Super Stop & Shop. It is one of those huge stores that carries everything but the kitchen sink........and everything but healthy food! It just hit me, while walking down aisle after aisle, that 99.99% of the food they carry is either processed, sprayed with chemicals,…

Pet Scan Denial by Insurance - any post treatment experiences
I finished treatment Oct 2011 and received a pet scan 12.31.11 and no signs of cancer. My doctor recommended another pet scan 12.12 as normal follow up during my two years and Aetna denied the claim. My colo rectal doctor said a pet scan was a good idea in addition to the anoscopy and said to discuss with oncologist.…
