Today's Race

Many of you sent me good wishes for my 15k race today, so I thought I would let you know how it went.  I was going to just post it on the other thread where it was mentioned, but I don't remember which thread that was on (old age--LOL!).  It was a rainy, blustery day with temps in the mid-50's.  Yuk!  However, my partner and I ran the race and finished in 1 hour and 38 minutes (estimated--I don't have official results yet).  I am really happy with that, considering the conditions and lack of training.  Thank you all for supporting me!

    Martha......

Thats great! I did not mean to send Wisconsin weather your way with the good wishes, sorry. Some areas got over 10 inches of snow yesterday. The sun was out a bit today and temps were finally feeling spring like!

I am not a runner but your time sounds wonderful for a 15k.......we are all proud of you!

    Thank you, Everyone!

I have to admit, it wouls have been tempting to turn off the alarm, roll over, and go back to sleep yesterday morning when I heard all that rain hitting my roof!  But my running partner and I braved the horrible weather conditions and I'm so glad we did.  A couple of times during the race it occurred to me that no matter how miserable I was at that moment, it could in no way compare to how I felt during the last week of my treatment.  I was also thinking of all the people with ALS who we were running for who will never again run or even walk.  Such thoughts can be quite motivating.

I thank you all for your words of congratulations!
