Sore & Weak Muscles
Just wondering if others experience muscle soreness and weakness in their thigh and buttock muscles and if so what has helped with this issue? I assume this is all radiation related because I never had this before treatments. Yesterday I was doing some planting in my shade garden, which of course entails getting up and down repeatedly. I found that I could only do about two plants and then had to rest because my thigh muscles were so weak, sore and fatiqued. I walk a great deal and also work out at times (admittedly not as much as I should) on elyptical and other weight-bearing machines - but this thigh muscle probem seems to persist. It just feels like my muscles have "shrunk" and they don't stretch very well. Wondering what has helped others? Yoga? I realize this really is a minor problem compared to alot of the radiation after-effects so many people are dealing with, but just wondered if anyone has any advice they could give.......

Radiation definately shrinks
Radiation definately shrinks the muscles and their attachments ie tendons and ligaments. I found that yoga and gentle stretching helped. Being a massage therapist I had the added advantage of being able to self massage daily. I still have very limited range of motion compared to pre treatment, especially abduction of legs but it has improved over time, just don't think I'll be doing the splits anytime soon! Muscles need plenty of water, protein and nutrients for health, and if you can, a good massage regularly will drefinately help. Good luck
