Oct. 9 Forum
Would love to see some kind of summary of the Forum discussion of long-term side effects and quality-of-life concerns after treatment. Was this a valuable and informative event? What side effects were discussed, and were there any valuable suggestions made for ways to deal with them?

when choosing
Patient-to-patient volunteer arrangements are commonplace after treatments conclude. Maybe patient-to-patient pairings ought to be offered when helping people make informed decisions regarding their treatments before they begin, pairing people who have had the treatments with those about to embark upon it. Contrary to how…

Rash/hives
Has anyone experienced a rash or hives on their torso? I am 2 years out of treatment and just wondering if it may be caused by radiation. I understand that it could be caused by an allergic reaction or nerves and am being treated with antihistamines and steroid cream, but the cancer demons begin to dance...

Response from EWTN...Not good
I got the following response from Ewtn. So, she meant to say that "the wages of sin" is death by anal cancer for homosexuals only! I am disgusted beyond belief that a woman who cloaks herself in my religion would get on the air waves and be so ignorant of the facts and hateful towards cancer patients. She needs to be…

unscheduled visit tomorrow
Just to recap my last biopsies in the OR were back in June, they showed that my tumor was now microinvasive, I opted to hold off treatment and saw doc every few weeks since, however in August after a good checkup with scope she said she would see me in Nov, I called yesterday since I have been having symptoms again since…

Good to know.....
If I do find out that I have AC, it's good to see the majority of people survive it. Have there been many people here that didn't? And, was it because it spread elsewhere?

If all the NED's left.
I received a lots of different responses to my previous posts about NED's staying or leaving on the board. Both approaches are absolutely acceptable. Everybody has the right to leave cancer behind them. But one realization hit me this morning. What would this forum look like if all the veterans and NED's left it? This…

Do NED patients tend to leave the forum?
For those of you who have been here for a long time, I'm just wondering if people who get well tend to leave the forum? Also who would be the person who is not around anymore (either passed or got better and left), that left the greatest impression on you? Laz

If Anal Cancer Returns
Hello Everybody! I have a question. I was talking to a man who also had Stage 2 Anal Cancer like myself that lives in my town. We were both saying how we are in complete remission and how we are feeling etc. I then said to him that if the Anal Cancer ever came back they would catch it early since we get checked and just do…

anoscopy report
I posted here in mid-August after I had a routine colonscopy, and the doctor found a suspicious lesion in the anal canal. The pathology report indicated low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion with glandular cells present. I had asked if anyone knew what "glandualar cells present" might mean. I was looking for…

Surgery on the 8th.
Finally the day is set to remove my rectal cancer at the Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. Will be a bit complicated, because they also have to remove a part of my tail bone and do a flap from my stomach to have a better closure. So there will be the main dsurgeon, a plastic surgeon and a spine surgeon. I will end up with a…

Need hope for recurrent anal cancer.
Hi All - I'm a 47y/o white male in NYC with recurrent anal cancer. My orignal diagnosis was in Feb '09 with stage II. I then underwent surgery and completed chemo + radiation treatment in April '09. After a recent pet scan (23 Sep) my oncologist advised of the recurrence and that the tumor is localised. Now consulting with…

Working during radiation
I was wondering if anyone can talk about the likelihood of being able to work during the lastar adulation treatments? My radiologist insists it is going to get much more difficult, but up till now (11 out of 30 treatments), I'm still working with a few side effects.

Valarie Harper.....
Valarie Harper has supposedly been told she has months to live with brain cancer and she is appearing on Dancing With the Stars. For some reason, I am finding this disturbing. I am not sure why, but it feels like she is presenting a false image of what most cancer patients go through. Most days, I feel horrendous and there…

My cost on Obamacare
I have figured out that my new individual "Silver Plan" on Obamacare exchange will cost me $10,656. for 2014. This plan has a very high deductible and 20% coinsurance!!!!! That is $888/month The plan I have now has a low deductible, no coinsurance, low copays and cost $ 7800/ year. That is $650/ month. Ugh!

Blood clot in neck
Has any one had a blood clot caused by their port? I was never told to look for an infection or signs of a clot. I woke up one morning with a vein bulging in my neck. I could also see veins spreading out from the port. I googled port and infection, and thought it could be a clot. I went to the doctor, had an ultrasound and…

Long day
Firstly, thank you so much for the prayers! I met with the pulmonologist today. The growth in my lung has not changed much in 3 month scan comparisons. The doctor does not know for sure, but he suspects it is a neuroendocrine tumor. They won't know for sure until it comes out. It is in a place that is hard to get at. They…

No Liver Lesions!
As you all know my CT on Moday showed a questionable small spot. We followed up with a liver ultrasound and it shows all clear. What a relief!!! So now we "just" have to cut this sucker out, get some more chemo and we should be good. Not crazy about losing my Sphincter and the permanent colostomy, but at least nobody can…

Fuming about ignorant words on EWTN
oh, I am so angry! I was watching tv tonight and I turned the channel to EWTN, the Catholic channel. I just happened to turn it on when the host, Johnette Benkovic, was speaking about anal cancer! She said that anal cancer was a result of unnatural conduct and that " the wages of sin is death". She said the science…
