It has been a rough two years
Hello to my old friends and to all the new members on here: As some of you remember me, I lost my beloved husband Eddie, age 56, to stage four ec cancer back on September 15, 2010, then a week later, I lost my beloved Mom on September 24, 2010. I would like to say first, that I am very saddened to see that Loretta and Bill…

Surgery seemed to go well, now a leak.
My husband had an MIE on August 31st. Everything went great, he had a couple rough days about day 3 and 4, but since then is doing great. The swallow test was done on Thursday and there is a "very small leak". The doctor doesn't seem too concerned, in fact they plan to release him either tomorrow or Monday. He will come…

Heavy Heart.
My heart is so very heavy as I write this message among all my tears. I watched as my dear, sweet brother took his last breath last night 8 hours after being removed from the ventilator. He passed away at 7:40pm 9/20/12 surrounded by love. It was very difficult for both his wife Isabel and me. There is no way to ever…

Good News Lu
Just got home from my big day at the cancer center. Got there at 8am and left at 4:15pm. Anyway, before my treatment I had a meeting with my oncologist to hear the results of the CT scan and my other lab work to include tumor marker. The CT shows continued no spread, the area in the liver is 50% reduced from 8 weeks ago…

On pins and needles
I was dignosed with stage 3 EC in March 2012, went through treatments and had THE surgery in June. I was in to my surgeon for a scheduled throat stretch today I had asked him to check a couple lumps I had found up by the collar bone. He has done a fine needle aspiration to check for a cause. There was a look of concern on…

Posted this on the FB site, thought I should post it here also for those not on FB.
It's not over until God says it's over! I just had to say that. You see my brother has fought this disease for over 2 years now, 25 months to be exact. How many times I thought, 'this is it,' but he never stops amazing me. Jr. has been off of chemo since the end of June and when I saw him yesterday I was truly amazed.…

Taking a break.
I think I'm going to take a break for a while. We are preparing to leave the country for a bit, returning first week in Nov. Then hubby of 40 years is going in for back surgery (scary). I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. My email is ginnybender@gmail.com for anyone who wants to keep in touch.

The End.
It look's like the end has come for my dear brother. He is currently in the hospital on a ventilator after what was suppose to be a small surgery 9/11/12 to relieve fluid from around his heart. The surgery went well, but coming out of the recovery room he started to have problems. He could not breathe, so he was placed on…

Is anyone in touch with William and Sherry?
I was curious if anyone was in contact with them off the boards and how they are doing. I haven't been on the board that long and was just getting to know people. What a shame we have lost such dedicated and knowledgeable people.

To those newbies who find themselves here...
I just want to offer you a word of encouragement. I was in your exact same shoes in mid-June of this year. My boyfriend of 6 years was diagnosed with Stage III EC, a result of long term acid reflux that was not treated properly. (i.e. watched over time for Barrett's and endoscopies ordered to track). Of course that is all…

Hello again
I just wanted to put a post up today saying that I hope that I did not offend anyone with my last two postings. Everyone has a right to pick their own treatment plan and options dealing with this cancer and I was just speaking from my own point of view. Eddie was given pallative treatment only right from the beginning…

Too Bad
Too bad this site is falling apart. It is chock full of information that we find nowhere else. True people, true experiences, true caring. What a shame. No one ever agrees on everything and THAT is what makes the world go round. We are given free will and we are free to make our choices of faith, friends, our actions, and…

Is there a reason that when I post, it is not registered as a new post?
I've made three new postings this morning. They appear but the topic is not noted there is a new post. The New post information encourages members to read. While my thoughts are not that important, if I take the time to respond, I would like the recipient to know u've responded. Can anyone explain. Other postings are being…

A dumb question
Several EC fighters have reported that following treatment, later tumors developed oftentimes leading to a staging level of Stage IV. Are all tumors that form following EC treatment a form of esophageal cancer? I read where it seems as soon as this happens, it's EC again, no matter where located, and it's off to chemo. And…

At 9:00 pm last night we finally got Don home. It was day filled with many bumps in the road. They ordered the wrong machine twice yesterday and the dude had to drive across Ann Arbor literally from the north side to the south side twice - finally I just told the nurse to bring a wheelchair and asked the dude to meet me…

Coping
I am wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for keeping positive while a family member is battling ec. Most days I am so busy looking after my 3 children under 5yrs, working my way through long to do lists and chores and routines, I don't get a chance to think about my dad until i go to bed. I take a natural sleeping…

Welcome
geocam70--George, I saw your post under MasterP. I want to welcome you to our family, if this is your first time posting. It was great you were diagnosed at and early stage. Even though the surgery is the same, chemo and radiation can really be rough. The earlier a diagnoses, the better the survival rate. It's good to hear…

Sad to find myself here
Last week we found out the cause of my mothers swallowing problems is because of a tumor in her esophagus. She has had trouble swallowing for months and finally after much debate and practically forcing and a stay at the hospital mom finally got herself to a doctor. They did xrays and saw that there was a blockage in her…

Don Reed has passed
Judy Reed asked me to let everyone know that Don passed peacefully away at 8:45 tonight, with Judy and Caitlin holding his hands and his cute little dog Peanut lying by his bed. I had the honor of meeting Don last week, and he was quite a guy. He was dying and he of course knew it, he was on powerful pain meds and was…
