Losing Patience
I had my robotic assisted prostatectomy on February 14. All went well. Tumor was confined to prostate, nothing in surrounding tissue, and benign lymph nodes. The catheter was removed on February 27. I started out using about 5 or 6 pads a day and at least 3 thru the night. I never felt the urge to urinate. I called the…

My Nurse Navigator Didn't Notify me of a Gleason Score Change!
Just joined! My 1st Post. How would you react to this? We respect our doctor but have reservations as to the running of the department, path lab and now the Nurse Navigator. I understand that a busy doctor needs someone to run interference, after all, there’s so many questions the newly diagnosed have, I can understand…

"Use it or lose it" prostatectomy?
I had robotic prostatectomy in June. Everything has gone smoothly and I am grateful to God and the surgeon for the success. But I do have a question of a personal nature for others who had similar. I have heard the expression "use it or lose it" concerning E D after surgery. Was it necessary to use meds or artificial…

Pre-op paperwork - complications likelihood
So I am just reading the paperwork I got at the pre-op on Monday. In the common (1 in 10) section is says "discovery that cancer cells have spread". This sounds rather bleak and the statement does not appear to control for Gleason score or stage. Is it really as grim as this? Cheers C EDIT - made title more sensible

Hoping to avoid hormone therapy if I can help it...
Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with PC on May 8, 2017. I'm 53 years old, in otherwise excellent health. I had not a physical for a few years and never had a PSA test, so my primary care physician strongly advised that I take it - so I did. My first PSA result came back as 5.89, then took it again (after…

How long after surgery until you were able to work physically?
I am 64, in good shape, semi-retired. However, I do want to work several days a month to bring in extra cash and my work can be physical. I am a professional videographer, so there is the loading and unloading of heavy cases into my van, a fairly heavy camera on my shoulder, twisting, bending, etc. I have read that for six…

Should I be worried?
I just received a PSA of 2.3. It was .9 last year at this time. The doctor will take another one in 6 weeks. Should I be worried? I think my main reason for worry is the fear that it will rise again when I get it redone. I know 2.3 in itself is not alarming, but the fact that it rose from .9 is causing Anxiety, because I…

Good news?
My neighbor is responding to the hormone and chemo. His PSA was down from 606 to 314 today. This is good news, correct? They are going to test it every month. Another question. I've done some reading in other threads and it seems that taking calcium may be contraindicated during treatment, but I'm uncertain of that. They…
