Shocking PSA = 30
Dear all, I'm writing in a state of shock and something very close to desperation. I am not the actual sufferer of prostate cancer, it's my husband who got these results: PSA = 30, Gleason = 7, no methastasis, no evidence of dispersion to any organ, bones included, according to computed tomography and other scannings. PSA…

Anyone on Myrbetriq?
Since I have chosen to go with AS for the time being to treat my PCa, I still have the problems associated with BPH to deal with. I have been taking Flomax for about 8 months now and it seems to help, but because my urge is so sudden and strong, my urologist thinks I may have an overactive bladder as well. She said there…

Vaxil Immunotherapy
Hi al Has anyone heard about Vaxil, the Isreali company? They have been doing trials in immunotherapy for cancer the reports say look promising. It seemed they got scepticism a few yeas ago for showing positive results too early in the trials, then fairly recently the trials showed very odd results then they say 6 years to…

Conflicting Pathology Reports
I have a call into John Hopkins to discuss an interesting situation. John Hopkins did a second opinion of my biopsy slides confirming a 3+4=7 and increasing the percentage from 15% to 20% from my Santa Fe Pathology Report. However the MD Anderson Proton Center Oncologist is adamant that it is a 4+3=7 based on their…

After radiation
Having hard time understanding. After proton and brachytherapy, 3 month follow psa is 74ng/ml. The prostate was nearly 100% covered in cancer, so even with micrometasis you'd think a lot of cancer was killed, therefore psa would drop quite a bit, just like surgery would debulk most of it. Guess I need help understanding…

radium 223 and zytiga
I have been checking the use of aberatoron (zytiga) and radium 223 together, looks like it might be a fit for me and I might hang around a little longer.. Of course the cost would probably be to high.. oh well, so it goes ! ;~}

Is Treatment Delay Harmful?
An MRI last month showed I have prostate cancer. A fusion biopsy requiring general anesthesia was scheduled, but I had a TIA (blood clot in vessel leading to eye) a week before. Due to anesthesia concerns--general anesthesia shortly after a stroke increases the risk of a recurrent stroke--the biopsy has been delayed 3…

Casodex monotherapy
I have been successfully treating my cancer with Casodex (bicalutemide) monotherapy 50 mg daily for four years. I'm on intermittent treatment two months on, three months off. however, I have now reached the stage where the cancer mutates and apparently feeds off the drug. So I have stopped taking it and instead of PSA…

Your thoughts about Total HIFU treatment as a viable option
I am finally at the place in my journey from being diagnosed in 2011 with prostate cancer to where I will be making a decision about treatment. I would like to know where to go to find out the best treatment centers (Stanford?) and where I might find the best research on long term survival. I understand that it is…

Question about Lupron!

Newly diagnosed with prostate cancer
I am 62, physically fit, and found out I had a rising psa when I went in to get blood testing for hip replacement. My psa rose to 4.4 from 3.0 the year before. A urologist saw me on a Friday before my hip replacement the following Monday. His digital exam found an "abnormality" on the right side of my prostate. He…

Friend Passed Away
A friend of mine with prostate cancer(Stage 4) passed away yesterday. He had pretty much taken a full course of various treatments (hormone, radiation, chemo). He never lost hope. He was always positive. He taught, sung, wrote, and directed, music. Also, he tuned musical instruments. He was a gentle giant, who did not say…

Confused by lab results
I decided to get a PSA test as my uncle passed away from PC at the age of 68 this year. My total PSA came back at 2.3 but my total free PSA percentage is 17% My family doctor did not seem concerned.…

Interesting Clinical Trial Immune Cell Stimulation
I did a final consult with a Radiation Oncologist at UNM Cancer today. He thought I would be a good candidate for this. It looks interesting but would be with traditional Photon versus Proton. I am leaning towards Proton, but as a promising 3rd phase trial I thought I would share with everyone. See my Proton post for my…

PSA ‘<‘ value meaning
i had RP if feb 2017 (Gleason 4+4 with intraductal features - decipher very high - .93). Very fortunate to have been <.008, but layest test which was done at a different lab reported a PSA of <.064. Does this mean the assay is incapable of detecting less than .064, so I am likely still undetectable?

Diagnosed x2 weeks ago...request opinions
Hello: I've bren reading this forum for a couple of weeks and am very impressed with the information that I'm seeing. My GP was concerned about my 1 year rise in PSA (from 1.98 06/2017 to 3.37 03/2018) and arranged an appointment with a urologist. The urologist did a DRE and located a nodule on my prostate. One week later…
