Casodex: Taken at Morning or Night?
Greetings, I just started Casodex for the first time yesterday (at 4:00 pm) and I'm curious about the preferred timeframe chosen by others for taking this particular medication? Unlike many other meds, the side effects of a single 50mg daily Casodex tablet seem to persist for me well into the next day, such that they…

Incontinence
What I learned about incontinence and prostate surgery and how to help overcome it, if not prevent it. I was incontinent as a result of prostate surgery. I did not expect this at all from the pre-surgery research I did and from discussions with my doctor and his staff. This is not to say anything went wrong; I am fairly…

High Doses of Testosterone
To All Has any one seen this? Use of extreme high doses of Testosterone and then cutting to extreme low levels of testosterone as a treatment for PCA. It's done in cycles. Testing from John's Hopkins. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/11/30/man-cured-prostate-cancer-doctors-shock-tumour-death-testosterone/…

Newly Diagnosed as "High Risk" and Confused Beyond Words
Greetings to All, I am a 66-year old, newly diagnosed "high-risk" prostate cancer patient, that has only just begun the overwhelming research and learning processes associated with this wildly complex disease, and its many forms of potential treatment, based upon ones own unique biopsy/PSA particulars. Hence, I'm posting…

Still leaking and now heart issues
It's been 15 months since my prostatectomy/divertiulotomy, and I'm still leaking...sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. As a result, I still wear diapers. I guess I'm to the point that wearing a diaper isn't that bad. I'm even not as embarrassed/anxious beeing seen in one by any nurses or doctors. Now, however, I've been…

Update from Graycloud - almost 5 months post surgery
Hey everyone: It's been awhile since I've posted on my husband' progress. In a nutshell, he's doing fantastic! We just got back from a 3 week trip to Europe - walking miles everyday through 7 countries! You would never know he had surgery less than 5 months before we started this vacation. He packed his suitcase prepared…

stable psa with t-level drop
I am pretty much symptom free. No pain, fully continent and physically active. Follow up PSA's are good (see below). My last t-level has dropped from 311 to 202. I have no low t symptoms at this time. Pretty normal sex drive for a 71 year old (I think) but a 33% drop seems a little strange. I would appreciate any feedback…

Biopsy – Concerns with lack of information from doctor
During my regularly scheduled physical exam as a fire fighter, the doctor found a nodule on my prostate during a DRE and referred me to an urologist. My PSA is 0.3 for three consecutive years, but he felt a follow up with an urologist was warranted. The first urologist did a DRE and based on my age (56) and lack of family…

New Member Intro & Question
i was diagnosed with PC in 2016. Initially found during my annual physical where my PSA had risen to 5.7 from 4.2 in one year. (I should note my PSAs were always high because I’m a former competitive bicycle racer, however my year on year increases had never exceeded 0.1 - 0.2. No nodules on the prostate could be felt…

Shocking PSA = 30
Dear all, I'm writing in a state of shock and something very close to desperation. I am not the actual sufferer of prostate cancer, it's my husband who got these results: PSA = 30, Gleason = 7, no methastasis, no evidence of dispersion to any organ, bones included, according to computed tomography and other scannings. PSA…

Anyone on Myrbetriq?
Since I have chosen to go with AS for the time being to treat my PCa, I still have the problems associated with BPH to deal with. I have been taking Flomax for about 8 months now and it seems to help, but because my urge is so sudden and strong, my urologist thinks I may have an overactive bladder as well. She said there…

Vaxil Immunotherapy
Hi al Has anyone heard about Vaxil, the Isreali company? They have been doing trials in immunotherapy for cancer the reports say look promising. It seemed they got scepticism a few yeas ago for showing positive results too early in the trials, then fairly recently the trials showed very odd results then they say 6 years to…

Conflicting Pathology Reports
I have a call into John Hopkins to discuss an interesting situation. John Hopkins did a second opinion of my biopsy slides confirming a 3+4=7 and increasing the percentage from 15% to 20% from my Santa Fe Pathology Report. However the MD Anderson Proton Center Oncologist is adamant that it is a 4+3=7 based on their…

After radiation
Having hard time understanding. After proton and brachytherapy, 3 month follow psa is 74ng/ml. The prostate was nearly 100% covered in cancer, so even with micrometasis you'd think a lot of cancer was killed, therefore psa would drop quite a bit, just like surgery would debulk most of it. Guess I need help understanding…

radium 223 and zytiga
I have been checking the use of aberatoron (zytiga) and radium 223 together, looks like it might be a fit for me and I might hang around a little longer.. Of course the cost would probably be to high.. oh well, so it goes ! ;~}

Is Treatment Delay Harmful?
An MRI last month showed I have prostate cancer. A fusion biopsy requiring general anesthesia was scheduled, but I had a TIA (blood clot in vessel leading to eye) a week before. Due to anesthesia concerns--general anesthesia shortly after a stroke increases the risk of a recurrent stroke--the biopsy has been delayed 3…

Casodex monotherapy
I have been successfully treating my cancer with Casodex (bicalutemide) monotherapy 50 mg daily for four years. I'm on intermittent treatment two months on, three months off. however, I have now reached the stage where the cancer mutates and apparently feeds off the drug. So I have stopped taking it and instead of PSA…

Your thoughts about Total HIFU treatment as a viable option
I am finally at the place in my journey from being diagnosed in 2011 with prostate cancer to where I will be making a decision about treatment. I would like to know where to go to find out the best treatment centers (Stanford?) and where I might find the best research on long term survival. I understand that it is…

52 Year Old - 5.9 PSA
Hi, 52 year old. Recently told by my urologist that my PSA is 5.9. Said I should wait 2 to 3 weeks and get retested. Do no ejaculate for 48 hours. Of course I am royalling freaking out and just know it’s cancer. Blood was drawn on Tuesday, June 12th at 8:30AM. I had had sex on Friday evening and again late Saturday night,…

Question about Lupron!
Hello! My father was diagnosed last October with metastatic prostate cancer (after two negative biopsies, it ended up causing a fracture in his lower spine which led to bone biopsy). Lesions in lower spine, a rib, and left hip. He’s had two Lupron injections (every 3 months), with follow up bone scans (first showed no new…
