I've posted on here before about my Dad. He is 66, had the DaVinci surgery, but he still has a positive PSA ranging from 1.3-7.0 in the last 3 months. His oncologist wants to start him on hormone therapy. His oncologist says that chemo is more for the "end stages" of cancer. Yet, my Dad's family doctor says that chemo…

RLB and RLM showed perinueral invasion. After visiting 4 urologists and discussing all the options, my wife and I decided that a robotic assisted…

Prostate biopsy
My urologist has recommended a prostate biopsy but I have found on-line sites that claim that prostate biopsies can cause metastasis. Is this a real danger? Are there alternatives to a prostate biopsy, such as a sonogram or MRI?

When my Dad had his prostate removed, the surgeon told him that he lost 1/3 of his blood during surgery. 6 weeks after surgery, he had follow-up PSAs taken. The first one was 3, the second one was 7.
