Post radiation PSA
My oncologist just told me...as I near the end of my radiation treatments...that it may be up to 6 months before my PSA drops to undectable...because of residue he said. Not what I expected to hear. Anyone care to comment? George

False alarm -- whew!
Three months ago I had my 6-month post-surgery followup PSA test and got "undetectable." (They were using the "ultrasensitive" test, so that's less than 0.01.) Two days ago I went in for the next test in the schedule at a new lab--we move around a lot (see the website), and got 2.82 ng/ml! For those of you who like math,…

8 days post Da Vinci

is ED a medical item or a quality of life item........
The reason I ask is ,well, my wife has zero drive/desire these days..... I almost dont care if we ever do it again, it would just be one less thing to worry about. Can anyone shed light on is an erection part of the medical recovery? Or is it, just a nice thing to be capable of? What benefits (other than the obvious) is…

da Vinci 2 months out. 6 o'clock leaks
My da Vinci was September 24. I'll be 62 next month. I am down to one pad. I seem to do fine over night and most of the day until around 5 or 6 in the evening and start to leak some. On my six week check up my doctor asked me how I was doing and I told him I was down to 3 or 4 a day. He said I should try the bio feedback…

You can go back about 5 or 6 post pages and read all about it. Look for Injured by DaVinci and 22 comments. I finally am back to beig a normal person again. I had my colostomy…

Senate Health Care Bill Would Allow Insurers to Limit Coverage for Seriously Ill Patients.
A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer, prompting a rebuke from patient advocates. The legislation that originally passed the Senate health committee last summer would have banned such limits, but a…

Sonny -Checking in with Radiation Treatment Updates
Greetings to all, It's been a while since my last post. Hope you all will forgive me. Needed a little break and things have been a little busy on the home front. Thought I might update those that have been following along with Lynn and my travels down the cancer path. Just a little memory jogger on why Lynn and I are both…

36 hours post da vinci
and a huge snow storm came thru! Doing well I think, other than I have plenty of gas that seems to disrput a nice long sleep. Just got 5 hours worth, think that is the longest yet. What do you all have for a diet post surgery? Do you stick to liquid based or move into more semi=soft foods? I am pretty much pain free, not…

scans before surgery
My husband had a 4.6 psa and 4+3=7 gleason after biopsy. Surgery set for January 4th. The doctor said they wait 6 weeks after biopsy. The doctor does not think there will be any spread of the cancer, I guess based upon the 4.6 psa. He said if we wanted the cat and bone scan we could have it. I have a email to his primary…

Dry
Hi chaps, Well, I'm 1 week post cath and it looks like I'm one of the lucky few to be 99.9% dry. I think I've had maybe 2-3 leaks when I stood or bent unexpectedly. Now if I think that will happen, I just squeeze and I'm fine. I wear 1 pad if I go out for security then go without for the evening then 1 at night, again for…

Survivor? I do not even know what my problem is?
Last week my PSA tested 39 and a second test showed 41. Bet the Wallabies would have liked to have had that score when they played the Irish last week (and Scots last night). Anyway, my GP is not overly excited, I am scheduled for chest and adomin CT and nuclear bone scans etc Monday/Tuesday this week, with a biopsy next…

Weight loss
In the grand scheme, this is a minor thing. but I lost 10 pounds after prostate surgery. Went from 224 to 214. I'm not complaining, but it sure is strange because I ate normally from the day after surgery, and didn't exactly set the world on fire with exercise. Wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thanks, Jim

PSA not detectable
Good news from my urologist - My 4 week post surgery blood test revealed a PSA of 0.1 which my uro said is non-detectable the way this particular lab measure it. In fact, he said if my wife went in, she would have the same reading (of course, it's impossible for women to have prostate cancer). I've seen some posts by…

New guy on board
Thanks for all participating on this site. I have received a great deal of information by reading your messages. I am trying to get a handle on what my costs would be for radiation and/or cryosurgery with Medicare. The fastest way to move a doctor out of an examination room is by asking costs. So far the radiation ballpark…
