Good News Story - Diagnosis to Surgery
I was diagnosed in July 09 when my PSA went from 3.9 in June 08 to 6.0 in May 09. The biopsy showed 3 of 12 with RLB: 35%, RLM: 75% and RA: 50%. My Gleason scores were all 3+3. RLB and RLM showed perinueral invasion. After visiting 4 urologists and discussing all the options, my wife and I decided that a robotic assisted…

Prostate biopsy
My urologist has recommended a prostate biopsy but I have found on-line sites that claim that prostate biopsies can cause metastasis. Is this a real danger? Are there alternatives to a prostate biopsy, such as a sonogram or MRI?

blood after biopsy
I was wondering if any others have experienced, as I have, blood in the urine after a biopsy of the prostate. Also, what was the extent of pain during the procedure?

Does blood loss during surgery affect post-surgery PSA levels?
When my Dad had his prostate removed, the surgeon told him that he lost 1/3 of his blood during surgery. 6 weeks after surgery, he had follow-up PSAs taken. The first one was 3, the second one was 7. They were taken within an hour of each other and sent to different labs. A couple weeks later he had a 3rd PSA test and that…

Had my da vinci procedure in February--I have found that my bladder doesnt hold fluids as well as it used to. My doc says that the bladder was actually reduced in size as a result of the operation, since he had to remove a smal portion. interested in whether anyone else has had a similar experience.

9 weeks post op
An update. My DaVinci was Oct 19, so I'm 9 weeks post op. Overall, I'm extremely happy. I feel completely able to do just about anything (although I'm a bit out of shape). I can pee faster than my 22 year old son (it's almost scary the force that comes out with the prostate gone). I have to be careful that I don't splash…
